Was looking at the MoT history of a car I saw advertised, and came across the above as an advisory.

Not seen that before and not quite sure what they're advising - it's more battered than it should be?!

It's whatever the tester thought was worth pointing out at the time.

Recent?

It was from a couple of years ago, if it's something cosmetic that's irrelevant to the test itself I'm not sure why it'd be worthy of mention tho'.

Funny you should start this topic OP, I had my Abarth 500 MOTd a month or so ago and the advisory was 'Exhaust noisy (7.1.4)'.

Granted it was a Monza which sound deeper than normal but I wouldn't have thought it would ever make it to an advisory list!

Have MOT testers become more anal of late?

A common one seems to be discs corroded, which of course is what happens to discs. Is it just a note to show they have done some checks in case DVSA is watching them? Also indicators slightly discoloured (code for the orange paint is beginning to peel off the bulbs)

It seems they can 'advise' whatever they see fit.

My car got an advisory this year for an air freshener obscuring the view. I did wonder why it had been taken down from the rear view mirror......
