Replacing the sandwich bag - Advice please!

As a very pleasant surprise Christmas present, my wife bought me a Lezyne Phone Wallet to replace the sandwich bag that I currently carry my phone and wallet in when commuting or out for a proper ride. The problem is, my phone doesn't fit, and there are no alternative sizes available. This is the wallet:



I would like to get something of a similar style to replace it, but big enough. Since it will be used in all weathers, it must be waterproof. I don't want a clear dry bag style one as I've had them before and they didn't last that long. They also seem to have slightly sharp edges so are bad for jersey pockets. Finally, they're nothing like what the wife chose, and I would like to be similar (ish) as it was a thoughtful present. So nothing like this:



My phone is 160mm x 80mm, so almost exactly the same size as an iPhone 7 Plus. I've been looking at the Bellroy All Condtions Phone Pocket Plus, but even in the fabric offering is £75! The Rapha offerings don't look very waterproof, and the Endura one seems to only just fit an iPhone 5, judging by reviews, so is probably too small.

I suppose the questions are:

1. What do you use?
2. Any recommendations?

Also interested in this after frying the motherboard on my phone and now having to also resort to the sandwich bag!

I got the Lezyne one for my birthday back in October, and like you discovered that it is too small to hold my phone. Have been doing a bit of research since and these are the best options that I can find (excluding the alternatives you've already mentioned):

Got mine the other day. Looks perfect for phone, cash, cards and keys. Separate compartments to stop the phone being scratched as well as being waterproof.

Half the price of the Rapha one I got the missus for Xmas. Although doesn't smell as nice.

The Rapha one is nice but is in no way worth the dosh.

The Lezyne caddy sak thingy is pretty good also but I use that for tools and spares in my pocket, the the ridepac for essentials

How about Silca's Premio seat roll? It's not the cheapest, but it is waterproof and looks neat.

Yep. My Ridepac is replacing the Lezyne one simply because it has separate areas for cash, keys, phone etc. If I put my phone in the Lezyne one I then have to put it in another thin case to stop it being scratched.

I was in Sigma Sport yesterday and they had the Bellroy range on display. They're nothing special and once again my phone didn't quite fit! So pretty much the same size as the Lezyne one. There is a larger option @£99 but that was too big for a jersey pocket.

I bought a heavy duty zip-lock phone bag from Homebargins - cost £0.99p and is the best solution I have found for my Iphone 6s Plus with a bumper on.

I used to have the same Lezyne wallet for an older iPhone. I replaced with the Lezyne caddy sack (medium size). My phone now is a Moto G4 which is about same size as iPhone 7.

It's great, pretty much waterproof. And sits well in my jersey pocket.

I've done over 50,000 miles now without a case or carrier, never had an issue and have ridden in dire conditions. I think the iPhone is tougher than many give it credit for

I just have a tough plastic case for my iphone and wrap it in a sandwich bag with cash in my back pocket

Recently Ive found my phone getting wet not from the rain but from the sweat off me !

Very common with items like the gabba which are not breathable.

This, well no where as many miles. The iPhone 7 (and other newer Android phones) is waterproof too.

The sandwich bag is a remarkable invention for this purpose, and if my wife hadn't bought me a thoughtful yet slightly ill-fated Christmas present, I wouldn't be embarking on this quest.

Just this week, the little tab thingy came off the end of the string, so it has now become slightly lighter, perfect for a weight weanie!
