I see this thread has been 'removed' by the Powers That Be.

Any info from the HM web meisters as to the reasons why?

Just what I was thinking.

I was catching up when it vanished.

I would much prefer threads to be closed with a mod posting the reasons for closure, than the thread disappearing.

I'm guessing it'll be Merkel's fault.

I don't think the Mods did close it.

It was hacked by Russians,

My own gut feeling is that HM has become an ad-based money-making platform which is now a 'motoring forum' in name only and that their ad-based revenue stream is now the sole reason for their existence i.e. the membership roll of the site is the precursor for their ad rates.

I'm happy to be corrected if my assessment is erroneous. wink

I'm not a Mod or Admin but sometimes they are removed for

1. Clean up (if they have got out of hand - people being bloody rude or nasty)
2. Suspend "Air Time" (ie remove from discussion in order for mods to discuss the best course of action)
3. They are not acceptable in terms of topic

I'm not aware that 1. or 3. apply from when I last caught up with the thread so I can only assume 2.

To be fair there are some absolute nutjobs in N,P & E (of all extremes) and that thread had little to do about motoring. As usual with any internet forum the standard answer is if you don't like it you are always free to start your own.

Not much at all in NP&E has anything to do with motoring TBH

I'm not sure I'd agree with that but if they want to attract people to the site (which makes them money) they might not want to be seen as promoting some of the views expressed on that and similar threads.

I agree with you about threads meandering off topic, that happens everywhere and I think one should keep an open mind but it seems that here in particular threads about terrorism and related religious subjects seem to get binned in short order, one has to ask why this is happening, surely discussion is not a crime, or maybe certain discussions are a 'crime' in certain minds?

Usually happens. One or two consistent nutjob posters come in with pretty awful views, then some of the usual suspects start with the hysteria about how this means all of PH is terribly racist, then it turns into a death spiral, with normal posters bailing out left right and centre while the pettiness reaches moronic levels.

I understand moderation is a difficult task but its a shame that the thread has be removed. Its a major news story and the only one without an active thread at the moment.

Far as I recall, no one accused all of PH of being racist. Quite the opposite - the one or two suggesting genocide were called out by name, not taken as representative.

Hi All,

I apologise if you were catching up and it vanished! It was deleted as we had received multiple complaints about the thread and it seemed to be attracting the wrong kind of attention. I'm in no way saying it was you guys, as there were a lot of reasonable debates and discussions going on, but there are a certain few that ruin it I'm afraid.

If you wish to start another thread on the subject please go ahead - we will monitor it from the start to try and keep it clean!

Thanks

Jack

Just ban rscott from posting in NP&E with his retarded "they're just misunderstood" bullst and there will be no need to delete whole threads.

Wow.
Have I ever said that? I've dared to post that not all Muslims are intent on wiping out Western culture and that, perhaps, suggesting genocide isn't a helpful comment.

I now know why the thread was binned.

I wished TTwiggy all the best for the upcoming festive season and the whole thread fell in bits.

Lighten up guys, this is only the interweb and it's nearly Winter Festival time. wink

Merry Xmas to all and to quote the late, great Dave Allen "May your god go with you."
