I thought this might happen a few weeks ago and now lots of rumours going around that a deal is done. Great news if true.

A Google search for Manor Racing Ron Dennis returns this thread as the second link. Is that like dividing by zero?

The last credible source I read said that it was Graeme Lowdon buying the team back.

I'm not buying this.

WHats in it for Ronzo?

He's 70 odd

Will he need to move closer to Brackley?

Admitted he wasn't running McLaren well, hence appoint of VW chap. Why try and run another?

At his age, and the low base point of Manor, I just can't see it at all.

First of all, I'll say I don't believe it. Italian F1 reports are notoriously unreliable.

However: being 70-odd doesn't mean you are out to pasture. I retired a few years ago and sitting around on the patio with a drink in hand is not all that much fun after a few days. He has lost the major part of his life through, if some reports are to be believed, what amounts to betrayal in his eyes. By buying Manor, he's back in a situation he knows - F1. It is the sort of thing that many people his age will do. It's not the money.

I think on that basis we can take this speculation as pure guff.

There does seem to be some activity around Manor. One source claimed that a body connected to 2 Indonesian GP2 drivers had bought the team. This can only refer to Ricardo Galael. So one would assume that if true, he'd put Sean in one car, but what of the second Indonesian GP2 driver? I'm not aware of one, so it would have seemed sensible for that second driver to have been Antonio Giovinazzi, whose GP2 career has been sponsored by Ricardo. He's a mate of Sean's and they are also housemates in Bath (with Mitch Evans). But Gio has gone to Ferrari, Mitch has signed to Jaguar in Formula E. So the only possible ''Team Indonesia' (Jagonaya Ayam?) driver would be Rio Haryanto. And it seems he may have some budget available for next year.

Another team has also been mentioned to me as being of interest to this Indonesian body, but I think that's too far fetched to be true.

I think the stories around Ron Dennis buying Manor should be taken with a pinch of salt though...but Dave Ryan is there and Ron was very good to him in (literally) giving him the GT3 cars to run after he took the rap in 2009.

I would really love this to be true. I think F1 is poorer without Ron Dennis present. Perhaps RD is putting together the investment deal required, so will be part owner, with Graeme Lowden taking care of the day to day running of the team as Team Principal.

Can't see it, but hope it happens.

I'm not saying he's out to pasture, just why would he start again from scratch at 70?

Fiver I'm right?

Sorry, I must have missed the 30 odd years of him being president.

I'm not sure either way, but if F1 is in Ron's blood as much as money is in Bernie's, then I could see him wanting to do anything to stay in F1. Some people just don't want to retire. Personally I'll take retirement as soon as it's possible.
