They must have someone lined up if they've decided to give him the push.

Yes. He's hinted that this is what he wants. The Lowe thing has just accelerated that by one year. I'm sure Williams have leveraged the Bottas deal to reduce Paddy's gardening leave too, otherwise Pat would have seen out his final year. But at least that means he'll likely pop up on the Friday at The Autosport Show nosing around the engineering section as he did when in his forced exile from F1.

Joe Saward mentioned this a few weeks ago. Paddy wants an exec role and/or part ownership of a team. Merc can't give it to him, but Williams can (both).
