Deary me! I used to visit the site quite a lot, more so in the early days when Richard ran the show. As I found better places to get my motoring fix I rarely visit this site. When having a look today this is one reminder of why I don't spend time here and what I was greeted with.

So:

1) Are PH/Haymarket now so shallow that they do not care at all about their brand and are just after flat out revenue streams? It certainly looks like it.

2) Why are there still no social connection buttons? This brings visitors in massively.

3) Why is basic internet security not applicable to this site whereas even hobby sites are https?

I doubt it anyone from Haymarket cares one iota but from a customer perspective (yes that is what we are) the following feedback might be useful to your out of date Ops Director that clearly has no idea of how technology and customer expectations are moving on. If we are site visiting muppets which are generating a revenue stream then you should be listening to our collective feedback and doing something about it other than saying, "We are looking into it" as that is the very same answer I see every time I visit the feedback page.

This could be the greatest motoring site on the planet but instead it is plagued by people that have not got the first idea about to fix technical problems or what direction the site needs to move in. I'm not saying rant over because it's not a rant.. I said the same thing 5 years ago and 5 years before that!

PH is a fossil fuel site, directed by dinosaurs.

PS there are better places to buy your studio furniture

Mine looks fine with no adverts at all.

Do run Adblock plus on both the computer and my iPhone though

Hate to say it but beyond the https issue I actualky like the way PH works. I don't want to link my profile here to bookface ttter or wherever else, I want it totally seperate. I like the clean lines of the site so when I'm at work it's not immediately obvious I'm wasting time online...fine as is IMO

I don't usually get ads, but if I do they tend to be the ones much like you show. They seem to just sit there and are not intrusive so I don't see the problem.

Would the op be allowed to post links to the sites he prefers so we can compare?

I think PH is great. What little advertising I get is unobtrusive, the page layouts of other forums just seem a complete mess to me compared to the clear, simple, easy to read layout of PH.

Hi LordFlathead,

Thank you for taking the time out to give us some feedback!

1) We 100% do care about the brand smile everyone here at PH is passionate about it, and making sure its as good as it can be (we are aware there is still work to do, but everyone is always working hard!). As is the way with websites nowadays, they all have adverts, some more intrusive than others, and we try to get rid of the intrusive (auto-audio) ads as soon as we can! Personally, I wouldn't say the ones in your screen shot are intrusive.

2) We are aiming to have social connection buttons as an option on the site in the future!

3) The https is also in the process of being implemented, it should be in action in the new year.

All the best,

Jack

I think part of the problem though is the sheer size of the ads. That top one is so large it cuts into the N on station. Personally dont have a problem with ads which are a normal scale, some of them look very odd sometimes when viewing the site in 4k.
