Good afternoon fellow PHer's

We're considering a warrant for our (from new) Evoque dynamic which is 3 years old

Full LR history

Can you recommend an extended warranty provider?

Thanks in advance

^^^ This...

Take the money you would have spent on the warranty and stick it in a savings account, ready for any unexpected bills. wink

Land Rover or nothing. The proper LR warranty is excellent and has paid out a fortune on my cars and no claims have been turned down.

I ran a RR Sport from new until it was 7 1/2y old

JLR wanted 1k a year for the warranty after the initial 3y period expired

In the following 4 1/2y I chewed an alternator, an electronic parking brake and a ride height sensor
The ride height sensor was the only thing which stranded me however I had "free" recovery from the bank

The cost of the others was hugely less than paying £4,500 in warranty payments

Warranties are a lottery - especially on Land Rovers - Im happy to be told I was lucky

Cheers

On the other hand, for the Jaguar S Type that I had for over 10 years, I extended the manufacturer's warranty every year at around £1000 a time, so around £7000 in total. In that time I had 3 gearbox replacements. the steering replaced, the heating system replaced as well as other "minor" corrective work. I considered the price well worth it. I assume a Jaguar warranty must be very similar to the Land Rover warranty.

I changed from Jaguar to a Discovery Sport 2 weeks ago. It has a 2 year warranty so I've no need to think about an extension for a while.

You were lucky! wink But you're right, with a LR it's a lottery, so I'm happy (well, happy is the wrong word) to pay a grand for the insurance of a warranty.

My old Disco had about £10k of repairs in two years so it worked for me, but then my Dad's sport has barely put a foot wrong.

I'm away for over half the year so it's mainly my wife that uses the car. All she wants is for when it breaks down for Land Rover Assist to send someone out to fix it or send it to the garage and give her a replacement while it's being repaired. The LR warranty does that so I'm happy to pay a premium for peace of mind. Although the new one is under factory cover so it's not an issue just yet.

My man maths calculator works out that £83 a month plus £250 a month on depreciation is not far off a lease payment for a brand new car.

The extended LR warranty is actually Car Car, used by other manufacturers as well. I mistakenly thought that LR themselves were doing the extended warranty.
The advantage is very little gets turned down according to the LR guy I spoke to, unlike many alternatives we all know of. Land Rover assist will send out someone, who are trained and with the latest equipment for your Land Rover not the AA or whoever who do all makes. If needed they will book the car into the dealer (I was told it is prioritised so less wait for attention?) and a replacement car. Apparently used to be Enterprise, with some interesting stories concerning deposits and cc details taken, but now there are cars placed at dealers and given out as needed.
I am saying this not because I work or am connected to Land Rover, but just last week I had an egr valve failure and had that diagnosed at the door then replaced, four days 16 reg hse loan car while the work done. Total cost = 0
I asked the service guy what would the bill have been, he said around £740 for parts and labour.
All the above on my 63 reg Freelander 2.
