Commuter car required

Dear Internet,

I need help in finding a £10,000 - £14,000 used car for a commute of about 12,000 miles annually.

My current eclectic top 3 at the moment:

MX-5
Focus ST Estate
Honda Civic 1.8

My main requirements being:
Not diesel
No specialist vehicles
Not old
Comfortable
Fast enough to join the carriageway
Quite reliable

I've never needed a car so this is quite strange for me.
