Clk320 and BMW 320d

Hi guys first post, thought I'd share my current cars, first one is my weekend cruiser, 3.2 v6 Mercedes Benz clk320 soon to have twin amg tailpipes (like clk55) planning on double din and bigger brakes with vented discs, second is weekly smoker BMW 320d m sport having 2 black cars is a pain to keep clean but enjoy them both!

Also have a 3 door mk1 golf in Mars red in bits will gets some pics up soon! Let me know what you think? [url]

Have you ever considered getting the clk55? They're not that much money nowadays.

I've only had the Clk for a week and I'm only 25 so insurance is a issue, a friend of mines got a clk63 amg which is fantastic car but this is my first Mercedes and I'm very impressed so far!

Welcome to the forum OP.

Nice pair of cars you have there, but you've got some work to do keeping 2 black cars clean, especially this time of year!

I've had a few Mercs in the past, but currently have 2 BMWs as I just prefer the way they drive, and you can get them with a manual gearbox! My last Merc was a W202 C280 Sport (inevitably Auto) - probably the Merc I liked the least!

Just curious, but how do you find they compare as a driving experience? I still keep wondering about another Benz!

Nice cars buzz, don't do the AMG Tailpipes on your car as it won't look right & be at odds with your bumper, but the same rules apply as they do with the V8's so you can remove the secondary cats put an X-Pipe in to give you a deeper note.

They do a short version of this pipe which will give it a better look also lowering it will make the most of (I had a set of those but in charcoal) the aftermarket alloys.

Nice combo, OP. The black grill on the pre-facelift E90 really improves the look. Mine has similar, and a cheap second hand tuning box which makes a big difference.

Thanks guys! Yes there a pain to clean but I enjoy washing and polishing my cars when the weather lets me!

The e90 is a manual and I'm not the biggest fan as it reminds me of my work van! Soon to be replaced for a German 4x4

As for the exhaust imo the bum is to big for a single pipe so the guys who are custom making my back box said they will take a bit out the bumper so it sits flush and will just have a bit more growl

The guy I bought the clk from told me they were Mercedes wheels which I knew they weren't, my dream car is the 05 cl55 amg in black so this is another step in the right direction

A cheap upgrade on the 320 is the Grille the latter facelift one is IMO a good look.

Also when I say single pipe I had an Oval fitted on my old 270, it had two outlets so although it was a single it looked right & filled the hole perfectly but go down to your local exhaust centre, I have a photo but not at a good angle.

I really like the brabus 6 twin spoke but can't find them anywhere!

No that's a CLK500 with the AMG bumpers & side skirts.



The Brabus alloys are hard to find I have these fitted to my CLK63.



I can recommend the Vertini or Stance alloys with their 3 year anti crack warranty

Very nice! I looked over my friends clk63 and instantly fell in love! Out of my price range at the moment, currently my interior panels are wood I was thinking of wrapping it piano black, are they easy to remove?

Sorry for all the questions but you seem very in the know! This is my first Mercedes and I'm so impressed with it compared to previous bmws, I sold a 52 reg 3 series coupe and bought this 03 clk considering there 6 months apart the merecedes seems years more advanced!

The problem is your bumper is a completely different shape to the AMG items.

Take a look at these to see what I mean.

I'm not trying to put you off but you either have to cut into the bumper to make it fit properly or you'll be left with a gap above the pipes.

No problem I've had a few customers do what you're doing & at best it looks okay but odd due to the staggered nature of the AMG tailpipes & the curvature of the bumper which is why I went to an oval.

So had a chat with the guys today, they suggested a muffler delete with amg tailpipes, they will take a bit out the bumper so will sit flush with the bumper and won't look out of place

They also said it will growl at low revs but won't drone like a bean can, it will be cut flanged and fully customisable so if I want it louder I can put 200 cell sport cats on after, I've seen there work on a friends Porsche and they done a great job!

I will get some pics of the mk1 at the weekend as it's been in a barn for 5 years untouched! Just needs body panels replacing, engine wiring, brakes refitting and a good clean! I bought a mint set of gti stripe seats for it but not sure what state there in at the moment
