I bought a 2007 TDV8 Sport a few weeks ago, it's SO much car for £12k and apparently it's in perfect condition mechanically and certainly the exterior and interior look brand new.

However, I think it looks far more dated than the facelift version. I was behind a 2012 Sport yesterday and the tailgate/rear lights look much more modern and I notice the front with DRL looks much nicer.

What's involved in bringing it up to that level?

Obviously there's very little I can do about the agricultural looking interior - I've updated all the interior lighting to LED, upgraded the bluetooth module and got hold of a copy of the latest sat nav disc.

Mine looks like this;

There are numerous retailers on Ebay who sell whole or partial kits to change your early RRS into looking like a later one. If you want to do it all the costs do mount up with things like the headlights being eye-wateringly expensive, for example.

My younger brother considered doing the same until he looked into the costs.

For a very basic facelift (just panels / grills, vents without lights etc) its around £1500

for a decent job http://www.supertweaks.com/range-rover/range-rover...

EXPENSIVE!

Wow.

You're quite right, that's ridiculous!

I picked up some genuine secondhand rear lights and autobiography rear bumper last night for £250 from a forum.

Will finish the back off nicely and the rear bumper which is the only part of the car with any slight scratches and it'll be much tidier. That and taking off the horrible tow bar.

Very much doubt my car will get to see any facelift headlights any time soon!!

My take would be to leave it as it is. It sounds like you have a really good car, bought at a good price, so I would appreciate it for what it is. It's a personal thing but cars that have been forward dated always look a bit tragic to me. I also think that they limit your market on re-sale.

If you really want the new style, I'd be inclined to change your current one for a newer model.

You may be right. The plan was to see how I got on with it and decide if I was going to get rid of something and upgrade the RR or just keep it as a workhorse but I'm a serial tinkerer and I've never left a car I've owned as it came from the factory.

Give Metal Monster Junk a call up in Yorkshire.. he doesn't sound like a decent LR garage but does a serious amount of Discovery facelifts and a decent service. He keeps alot of spare parts so anything you are missing can provide.

I prefer how it looks now and IMO is less likely to date.
