Was looking at getting a Golf on PCP / lease (potentially directly from Volkswagen) and in the time that I've been looking at options, they have announced a Golf face-lift in 2017. (http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2017-volkswagen-golf-facelift-revealed-new-exclusive-pictures).

Will this give me any negotiating power on price? Or, will it have no effect until nearer time? Forgive me if I am wrong as I am no car buying expert, but to me this is like getting an xbox one right before the new xbox comes out - I'd want a discount.
What do you guys think?

It use to be a Month or so before the new car but dealerships are getting pretty good at having the stock low before the new model arrives.

Might be worth a phone call to the Volkswagen dealership in Aberdeen.

The city has been hit hard with the fall in Oil prices and the dealerships are not exactly selling the same amount of cars. In fact it has been pretty dire.

Just a thought.

Thank you. I'm no where near Aberdeen unfortunately.

I can't believe it's as short term as one month. Perhaps many customers not aware of the new models!

To be fair the new Golf 2017 is just a slight upgrade. The totally new car will be in 2018.

Doubt you would notice much difference.

Honestly you would not believe the amount of people with no clue to when a new car is coming out.

Will just buy a car is the salesman states it is good.

I am close to Aberdeen but bought a car in London last year. Got it taken up on a transporter and still saved £1,400.

Phone around as many garages as you care too. You will be amazed the savings. Some obviously will have a car in stock and this is where the deals can get even better.

Then get a quote from uship and transporter firms will battle for your business.

Sometimes even the dealer will give nationwide delivery for free.
