Would've been a nice ride this morning if I hadn't been pulled out on at a T junction from the opposite side of the road with me putting my hand on the car's bonnet to clear them hitting me, tts.

It was one of those, they're going to pull out on me, surely not, yep they are. Guess they mis-judged my speed and didn't make any attempt to cut their pull away off, instead they did the full swing out onto my side of the road and carry on driving as per usual.

Red 64 plate Jazz so I'll keep my eye out in future.

I hate that , even worse is when they then pull away really slowly

LOL, I'm 6ft 3", dumpy mutant legs and long gangly body! I'm the fat fker you keep speeding past!

Gotta mate in Lowford with a more suitable bike, I'm going to collect it tonight, but thanks. See other thread where I'm musing about a replacement.
Im Lowford too. No problem. The bike would probs fit you fine.

Last time cycling to my current job. I Start a new job next week but I'm not sure about the cycling arrangements yet so will probably have a week or two in the car. Nice couple of encounters to finish off... I was on a roundabout and someone pulled out on to it as his side windows were so frosted up he couldn't see out. Second one was right by work where there's a pedestrian island and road narrowing. A black Audi A1 full of teenagers objected to me being on the road in front of them and were making all manner of gestures to me and revving their engine. tts.

Double gloves today. Toasty. Might need to get the Buff out for tomorrow morning though.

Enjoying my porridge and tea this morning.

Today was my 1st time cycling in to work since September. I'm getting fat and needed to get going again but didn't want to cycle the whole 30 odd miles because it would mean doing the country lanes in the dark which doesn't feel safe (carbon crunching car altercation in September didn't help in the confidence stakes).

Since doing part way means a folder or leaving a bike at the station I had an opportunity for an N+1 - see my thread on selecting a bike that the thieves won't go for.

It wasn't a good sign when I opened my back door this morning and the key had frozen in the lock on the inside, after swearing at that for 10 minutes it was reading -6 on the thermometer

Blimey!! I had enough layers on not to be cold, but there was even a ice cold headwind out in the fields, I couldn't believe it, it was like cycling into a wall!!

By the time I got to our office on a far, the sweat had frozen onto my face and snood!! Never had that before!

I cycle all year round and am used to the cold, but today was a different league, honestly felt about -8/-10 once you factor in wind chill Met office had it recorded @ -6

TBF it was an amazing morning, the kids and recent anm flu have ground me down a bit

I shunned the offer of a lift this morning just so that I could ride. It was still dark when I got to work but I will hopefully get to appreciate the full winter sun on the way home and will catch the start of the sunset as I ride along Portsdown Hill. Great stuff.

Freezing fog this morning, but I dressed for the conditions, and had a lovely snuggly warm ride in. Apart from my face. That was a bit chilly.

NEed to find the temp gauge on my Garmin really.

You guys must have a low centre of gravity with your massive bks. I'm to scared of hitting ice.

I haven't really experienced much "slippery ice" its been freezing on the country lanes near me and I know they never get gritted , its more dry ice

Still slippery though, running 32c tyres @ 50PSI on a long steel road frame helps with stability, plus I take it steady and aim for nothing more than a 16mph average

Having said that I was flat out in the pitch black on the hill down to my village last night @ 40mph when I noticed the pavement next to me was thick ice, I did think what on earth am I doing!

I find the ice around me in the Wiltshire sticks worse when you get the odd icey morning as any moisture freezes creating black ice

I came off a couple of times on ice a couple of years ago, and had some nice bruises to show for it. Now I have very little that's on untreated roads, depending on the route, and even then, the roads are pretty straight. I know when to be sensible.

I am taking about 10-15% longer (in the minutes) than I would be in safer conditions.

Grand femme chemises!

It was ok, my face hurt a little bit in the Victoria Country park, that passed by Netley, had a high speed near miss on the blind corner round the back of Weston Sailing club, I didn't stop, other fellow might be in the bushes, I did a little excursion on the grass, but stayed on, bit chilly going quick down the Itchen Bridge, arrived work, chilly toes!

I've lost my third layer of defence from the cold (a breathable trackie top) so had to press my Aldi boil-in-a-bag jacket into service. Predictably I went from very cold to very sweaty without any stages in between.

I was REALLY looking forward to the view of the City from Holburn but some dozy bint in an VC90 Death Cage nearly sideswiped me twice and in my efforts to stay alive/compose myself I totally missed it.

Why have a nearside door mirror the size of a frying pan if you're not actually going to use it?
