This isn't a "how do I transfer a plate" question.

I couldn't find anywhere what i do with the existing vehicle that Im taking the private plate off?

So I pay the £80 to take the private plate. I get the new car I am buying and do the paperwork and swap over. Simples.

The car I originally take the plate off, that Im selling, has to have a plate. Common sense says the original one? Whats the process for that? Timescales?

Thanks in advance.

yes

It works very well too.

The original registration will be assigned to the car, a new logbook should arrive within a few days.

It's far quicker than a typical sale / transfer of registered keeper. A new plate can be on a car within an hour.

Yes, brilliant new system, makes life so much easier, but do it well in advance so that the new V5 comes back in time should you need it to sell the old vehicle
