Ok fire across your suggestions what you'd buy. One car only, premise being something that will be fun, hold its value and be reliable enough.
Weekend fun car mode only and summer runs.

My own thoughts are currently based on a Lotus Exige S or special edition with the supercharged toyota engine.

I then saw a couple of Nobles in this price range... mmmm?

Not a million miles off a GTR?

I'd struggle to get past the Nissan badge, but that's just a silly reason not to own such a crazy machine.

Mmm I'm a bit "meh" about the GTR to be honest. Fabulous cars no doubt. I love my little mr2 roadster which is why I'm thinking exige or similar for the driving feel. GTR is devastating performance but also heavy and bulky.

Even saw a lotus esprit v8 which caught my eye but scary in some ways with reliability. The noble looked a bit left field and rare. Lots of choice around at that budget I suppose

A few suggestions

Ultima GTR

Perhaps taking things to the extreme

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

Clio V6

Get lots of attention and will only increase in value

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4S Manual

Again will increase in value.

http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Lancia Delta EVO 1

Hard getting them at a decent price. Need TLC though

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

Renault Sport Spider

Pretty rare.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/r...

BMW M3 E30

Whether this is exciting enough is another matter. More an investment

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

Ariel Atom Supercharger

Just for the fun of it.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

Vauxhall VX220 Turbo

Getting pretty rare and cheaper than budget

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

Lotus Exige 1.8S

Not too sure about these. Still look great IMO

Some nice pics there Jim. I've had a Gardner Douglas T70 with 6 litre v8 so the Ultima is out but as it happens I did look at that same car myself online thus morning :-)
Also I'm in the process of selling a 993 Carrera S so I've done the 911 thing too.

Great minds think alike!

E30 M3 potentially Yes but rust scares me on them. Clio is deffo left field and is delta. I could imagine having a delta but I also want to be able to do the odd trackday without killing it's value.

It's a nice position to be in potentially and I'll keep an open mind on here!

I like your car choices. Very nice.

In the process of selling a 993? Not tempted to keep it longer?

Yes the E30 M3 and Lancia Delta would both be garage queens now. A track day might just put them into a retirement home.

As you have said a nice position to be in but choosing could be a nightmare biggrin

I'd add a Corvette to the possible options list, in Z06 form it's pretty handy around the track too.

That will get you an Evora that has had virtually all its depreciation done. Also, some good suggestions above.

Not to be honest I don't really want a convertible. I've never had a Mercedes tho and have been in a very impressive AMG saloon with crazy power:-)

Daft as it sounds I even started looking at mustangs and suchlike. I'd even like a resto v8 flatbed for a while just for the fun of it but common sense prevails (as such!)

What's the story with the VX220 they seem to be the unloved cousin of the exige and Elise? Why not much love? I know it's got vauxhall badges but it's a lotus underneath surely.?

That E30 M3 is catching my eye keep going back to read the advert

Oh Jim!! That TVR is beautiful. TVR name strikes fear into me from many reasons but there is something so right about the shape.

As you have stated the VX220 is basically a Lotus under the skin.

I remember following one in my Clio Williams back in the day and it left me with easy. The Williams was amazing in the corners but this thing was just on rails.

Seriously should be a cult car. They will increase in value.

The E30 M3 is a looker. You should try and have a test drive of one. They do say they are special. smile

I used to own a beautiful Talbot Sunbeam Lotus which I bought at the time because I couldn't stretch to affording a nice E30 M3 they were just out of budget (going for 20k and upto 25k)
Oh I wish I'd bought both!! :-)
I know a guy with a nice m3 I might get a passenger ride again.
