We have a cat. I have to confess I've never liked the thing from the first moment - when she pee'd on me. Currently we seem to be in a permanent state where she is s
t scared of the dog, so will only come into the house when she is happy he is locked away for the night. As a member of the household she makes zero contribution.
She eat's meat pouches, about 15 billion of them a day (I exaggerate a bit!). I guess it's not helped by the local birds who occasionally shoe her away so they can eat the food.
I remember our cats eating twice a day... 6 times seem's excessive?

As she's outside all the time anyway have you tried going via Cats Protection to see if she can find a outdoors home?We've tried to teach the dog. But no treat, or telling off beats chasing the bloody cat it seems.
Only other option would be keep the dog downstairs behind a baby gate, they might get used to each other with that security.
Regarding food. We dry feed twice a day. With an electronic scales and a cheap plastic cup you can "calibrate" a scoop to ensure you're not over feeding. Cats will just eat and eat given the chance!

Ask your vets to see if anyone is looking for a cat but doesn't want to go through a rescue centre. You don't like the cat, the dog doesn't like your cat, the poor cat deserves a new home.
In the meantime your question is really not possible to answer properly until the the actual weight of the cat is known, whether she is of correct weight or under/overweight, age and activity levels. Generally the guide of 3-4 sachets a day on the outers is too much for most cats (especially as many get some dry food as well) some cats prefer to eat little and often.
Has her appetite suddenly increased? How old is she? Stress could be making her turn to food plus this is one time ohe gets attention (when she is being fed) or some medical conditions make them eat more, this would mean a vet check.

Mine get two per day each, plus some dry food, and whatever they can con out of the neighbours
As above, get rid of the cat. Call Sunshine cat rescue, or some such equivalent. Someone that will give her a chance of finding an owner that actually likes her, because you obviously don't.

^^^^This. Is this the cat you were on about here? http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...ETA. Is that the dog you & your steplad - as you referred to him - had the issues with the landowner threatening to shoot? You forgot to update that one as to what happened after the police visit.
And how did your daughter's fish get on with the pellets?
Don't seem to have much luck with livestock do you?

The cat is 11. I should add that while I don't particularly like this cat, other members of the family are more tolerant. Hence they go out of their way to get her in at night etc.
In terms of weight, she actually appears to be quite healthy, and her coat is in good condition. I do wonder how much of the food she eats, and how much the birds / other cats in the area eat. We've got good at making sure the bloody dog does not wolf her food down.

Fish are fine on the pellets. Can't even remember the thread.
And yes that's the cat.
As said she seem's quite healthy, and comes in at night most nights.
If we come across someone where she could rehome that would be fine, but the agency's seem to have more cats than they can deal with and really go out of their way to avoid another.
If she appears in good health and not overweight then it would seem she is eating what she needs to eat.
Maybe someone should actually observe how much she actually eats everytime she is fed. Do you not have an outhouse she can be fed in?
Is she microchipped. I'm not sure but there may be microchip reading cat feeders, that will only open if it reads her chip. As she gets older, living outside is going to get tougher on her especially in winter something will have to change eventually.
