£140K....what would you buy?

You've got £140K in your back pocket (it's a big back pocket!), what do you put your money into? Doesn't necessarily have to be a Porsche but it does need to be fun and hold reasonable residuals.

Totally uninterested in 991 Turbos.

For a few years of road trips and trackdays, a 996 RS or a GT4.

If you needed a good daily though, then a Gen2 Turbo S.

If you fancied a break from Porsche (like me!) then a nice vanilla 458.

991 GT3 not a bad shout but make sure its on revision 4 engine wise.

Its a good budget IMO although sadly, doesn't buy nearly as much as it should do because of silly values.

Always loved the 996RS although the same cars keep coming up in the classifieds month after month. Do any actually sell? I guess they're probably over-priced currently like a lot of cars.

997.2 GT3 RS is where I'd like to be but slightly shy on budget.

Hadn't thought of a 12C Spyder. Could be interesting.

A 458 is a nice idea. Although not sure I see myself in a Ferrari.

I've been looking at the 996 RS's for a while, I don't think they're selling to be honest. As lovely as they are, not sure if I could live with 'that' dashboard from the 996....also, they're not really great road cars for the UK...

Try a 458, scalpel like steering, superb balance, a beast when you want it to be, easy to tour in, amazing engine, unbelievable sound.....what's not to like? Great cars and have bottomed out on price currently. I've been offered nearly £15k more for mine than I paid in Feb this year...

Tried a 12C.....left me a bit cold if I'm honest, although a spider may have changed that feeling a tad.

McLaren. Unfortunately I'd probably want a 650s and that's going to be a touch more than 140k.

Go with what the other guys say as well, wait until Geneva to see the new AM and if you've been a very good boy then maybe a gen 2 GT3.

If either of those were going to then come off I'd spend 115k on a 997 GT3 to tie me over whil waiting for delivery.

I like the V12M precisely because it's a throwback. 140k is a lot to spend on something that drives itself

£140k gives you some interesting choices:

Ferrari - 458 Italia or 430 Scud
Lambo - Gallardo LP560-4 or maybe a Balboni if you're lucky!
Macca - 570S (with a few miles)
Porsche - 997.1 RS or 7.2 RS with mileage
Merc - AMG GT 4.0

458 in black or grey for me, or 7.2 RS if i could find one with a few miles on. Or I might just stick where I am!!

Problem with the 458 is they are holding well and therefore poor value. A dog eared 4 or 5 year old example with 5+ owners has barely lost any money. May as well throw another 50k in and get a brand spanking new 488. Better looking, faster, more modern, 4 yrs warranty/7 yrs service pack and you get to be the first owner ... in the face of all these upsides, I personally wouldn't give a hoot about NA versus Turbo.
