Does anyone know if this is a straight swap. It would appear that the 993 Gearbox is somewhat pricey nowadays but the 996 manual can be had for reasonable money. If anyone could confirm that would be much appreciated wink

Won't work, water-cooled engines/trans have a different bolt pattern to air-cooled

We put a 996 RSR sequential in our 993 GT2 R ...... no issues ...... made a bracket or two ...... Porsche Motorsport said no can do but was easy and ran reliably winning many races outright ......

Thanks Hunter66, the car in question is an immaculate low miles example, he doesn't really want to go down the bodge route. I was trying to find a more economically viable solution for him. Thanks all the same wink

Haha ........ not a bodge even Bischoff was impressed , sure can be done on a road car as well ...... maybe Matt at Fearnsport has an idea , plus the 996 gearbox is really much more precise in action ( seen a GT3 box for sale for a few grand ) ....... when going from a 993 RSR to a 01 GT3RS you notice the big step forward in the box...

Then why does it need a new gearbox? I thought they were pretty bullet proof.

And, surely, the money saved by trying to fit a 996 box would be more than wiped out by the devaluing of the 993?

Just saying.

993 box with the 911GT quickshift works very well. Why mess around trying to install a 996 box. Surely whatever you save on purchase will be spent on buggering about trying to make the box fit. I can understand 996 cup box to 993 as they are still mezger block. Ordinary 996 is not
