Looking at treating myself to another timepiece, nothing on the scale of some I see on here, but I do have a small collection including Hamilton, CW, Tissot and Citizen. All automatics, can't be doing with this winding lark.

I've just come across Jorg Grey, the JG6500 automatic in particular , yet until yesterday had never heard of them.

So, what are they like, on a par with the other watches I have.

Or any other suggestions, budget limit is £750.

Thanks folks.

Looks good for £220

ETA - except it's a quartz not an automatic now I read carefully. Not such a bargain.

Sorry, I deleted my post until I could work out whether it is a quartz, a Miyota, or a Swiss quartz.

ETA - and still scratching my head - it's £495 for one described as both Swiss automatic and quartz here:

The automatic one looks quite different - onion crown, larger bezel with markings etc.

I have the quartz which is apparently the Obama version. It's nice enough but nothing to write home about. I'm not sure whether the automatic is worth the extra money; but it's quite different so who knows. I prefer the simpler quartz's looks though.

Not sure I'd want to spend £750 on any of the OP's brands; half that or less perhaps.

It's was spotting it on Obamas arm in some pictures that drew my attention to the brand.

None of my other pieces came close to £750 but that's the budget for this yr.

If anybody has any other suggestions for an automatic , in the price range, then I'd be more than grateful.

Not overly keen on metal straps, preferring leather/rubber anyday.

I'm not sure what criteria you have (probably just like mine - i.e. none, you just spot something you like). Doesn't sound like you have any Seikos in your collection so might I recommend the SARB017 Alpinist? You'll need to replace the strap because the one it comes on is rubbish, but the watch itself feels more expensive than your budget. Should be able to get one in the UK including duties for well under £300 though: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEIKO-SARB017-Mechanical...

I was about to comment to the effect that 2x - 3x Glycines could be bought for that budget.
