Centre lock wheel scuff.

I'm using my GTS daily at the moment in some fairly inhospitable places and managed to scuff an alloy on a deceptive kerb. It's not bad, but the car is otherwise immaculate.

Being a machined finish (I think) I presume it's a wheel off job, but it there anything I can use to disguise it a bit? I thought about tidying it up with a Dremel and using some metal polish, or is that a bad plan?

Best thing is always off and done properly, the worst you can do is clean, dry and seal it immediately.

It's in for service at the end of March and will require new front tyres then, I am tempted to wait. It's not a big scuff, it looks a bit like gravel rash.

The kerb was not laid well and I saw the contractors laying it. The same ones that ballsed up my tarmac drive!

I took the car to the place Phooey recommended and they said that they could either refurb the wheel entirely or tidy it up for £80, but I'd need to leave the wheel for a couple of days - and I don't have a spare one!

So I decided DIY was the way to go.

This was the wheel before.



I bought one of these from Ebay for £16.



Half an hour and several coats of lacquer later it looks like this:


Is it perfect? No. But you've got to look bloody closely to see it, so it's good enough.

well done, how did you apply the lacquer, aerosol or brush, how many coats and do you sand down between each? Any more info appreciated as I've a similiar scruff on my Cayenne 21" Wheel.

3 coats and no, I didn't sand it between coats.
