Hi all

I too am looking to invest in a new timepiece and know a few on here have the 5712. I'm London based and something like the 5711 is on at least 1 year waiting list and so haven't been able to see that or 5712 in the flesh.

As my first serious watch just wondering how to get the best price and what people's experiences have been sourcing these in weeks/months rather than years.

Thanks for looking.

cheers

Depending on how quickly you want it, and if you’re willing to accept pre-owned (with remaining warranty), then one option might be…

Depends a bit on how quickly you want one and how much over list price you are willing to pay.

Prices have risen recently on grey market due to the weak pound, Watchfinder have a 5711 for 24k and it lists at 18. Watch club of bond st sold one recently for 22.5. Other non authorised but reputable dealers that get these in include Carr near Liverpool st.

If you want to pay list I find it's better to go and see the watches and talk to them explaining what your after and they are much more likely to get in touch than someone who just calls or emails as often it's just grey dealers trying to source watches for a quick buck. I think you would be surprised how that wait comes down if you express an interest in buying some diamond earrings/ a watch for the Mrs at the same time in one of the ADs. The choice in London for those is either the boutique on Bond st, mappin & Webb, Watches of Switzerland and Boodles.

If that fails could be worth a day trip to Geneva or Paris if you can source one at an AD, even with the cost of flights and weak sterling would work out cheaper.

Awesome thanks great feedback. Can certainly start building those AD contacts in London and hopefully one of them might have a demo 5712 in a safe to pull out to physically see and feel the watch. Might even start with Sandy Madhavan who's the manager of David M Robinson in Canary Wharf.

I'll be doing well if I can get delivery in 3-6 months but let's see!

cheers

Probably not much help, however the Patek store that just opened up in Qatar has maybe 50 watches on display there, probably a lot more come to think of it. It could be worth calling them, seeing if they have what you want in stock and picking it up at retail (plus flight costs) if they're going for a lot more.

Thanks PJ
I'd go pre-owned if under 12 mths but is it worth paying over list which might be a factor for PPN's?

Only you can decide what the watch is worth paying for.
You might have more luck with ADs outside the big towns and cities, but the 12 has been hotting up due to 11 buyers switching their attention to it, in the hope of getting “a Nautilus” sooner.
Chances are that the 26 AC is starting to get a bit more attention paid to it now, as a result of what’s happening with the other two.

Good call on new Patek boutique in Qatar. Worth making few enquiries, I'm due a trip to M. East soon might make a nice change to Dubai

So is there a reliable UK list prices for 11,12,26's I can baseline a range of prices in Paris, Geneva etc?

Mappin & Webb stopped taking pre-allocations due to higher demand since Brexit. 11's on 4 yrs, 12/26 on 2 years wait for those on the list.

That was Bond St in London over the phone.
