996 over heating

Hi Guys,I have a chance of buying a 46k mile car with over heating There is some particles in the water,unknown what, I have not seen yet, as Its a long way from my place.
Are there any issues with a 996 cooling system its a 2000 year and full history always in a garage and looks immaculate.
I'm sure some body here will know in a week or so I will have a proper look.

Coolant should really be changed every 2 years for maximum protection of the engine.

Coolant caps crack/leak.

Coolant tanks crack/leak (sometimes really fine cracks that are hard to see)

Coolant pipes split/connectors corrode.

Plastic/rubber doesn't last much more than 15 years, you see. Loss of coolant pressure is not at all good for the engine, so get her fixed pronto.

Stage one cooling fan resistors fail also, so fans don't come on low speed. If it's overheated and borked the engine you could be in for a very expensive rebuild. If it's just blown a bit of coolant out, with no lasting damage, probably easy to sort.

Hi I have had the following 996 issues in for repairs;

Cracked heads= water in oil
cracked liners= antifreeze in cylinder and coming out of exhaust
Porus crankcases= oil water mix both ways.

What particles are in the coolant?

Not sure Chris,in a week or so im going up to have a proper look,what would be the first test I should do,is there any tips as i'm hoping to buy it as its in such great condition like new in fact kept in a garage all its life plus history and i know of the both owners..But worried about how much a big repair would be in costs..

Solution is easy. Get it to Hartech. They'll give it a thorough PPI....assuming this is a service they offer?

Hi I would try to pressure test coolant, make sure fans coming on in front bumpers,cylinder leak test, drain oil when under pressure to see if water coming out of drain plug hole, as this could point to cracked head or core plug in camshaft housing has come out.

Its going to be very awkward to diagnose until you own it.
