Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde QV

Well that was a mouthful!
After nearly a year searching for something in the Norwegian classifieds to replace our trusty 198,000km R53 Cooper S and compliment our EGolf which is really the wifes car, we finally found something!
I can't even begin to explain how difficult this search for a new motor was, cars in this country are super expensive and it's been tough to find something that was within our budget that was fairly powerful, good looking, under 5 years old, that was a bit more interesting among the crowd of golf, Audi's, Bmw's, Tesla's and Nissan Leafs and had less than 80,000km's on it. I've gone through all manner of car obsessing since deciding to change and even went as far as putting a deposit down on a Juke Nismo RS which in the end wasn't really my cup of tea. Looked at Golf GTD's, Focus ST's, Golf GTI's, Scirocco TSi's and many more. We paid just shy of £26.5k (but in Norwegian currency of course) for this 2012 beauty with just 30,000km full service history with dealer oil changes in between, brand new winter and summer tyres and 2 years worth of Norwegian equivelant MOT.
Anyway enough of my rambling, pics....

I very nearly leased one of these, the Oxford dealership has very cheap offers for even high mileage use. I seem to recall that it was a 3+23 deal of £280 a month for 25,000 miles a year. It was plenty quick, I'll give it that.
In the end I decided it was too risky a purchase so bought a 24 year old Jaguar V12 instead

It's does indeed shift. I was quite surprised when I test drove it. Our R53 Cooper S has around 210bhp so isn't no slouch but this beauty really caught me by surprise. But then with 237hp it should shift. I think it'll catch a l9t of people out, especially here as they aren't that popular either.
Already had the wife's uncle giving me s
te for buying an Alfa and seems to think his 170 odd bhp F10 520 diesel will show me how it's done properly. Can't wait to see the look of disappointment on his face

The twin clutch gearbox knocked it down to 6 seconds to 60, and you get launch control too don't you? I didn't get a chance to really give it what for on any challenging roads though so it might just be a straight line hero!Already had the wife's uncle giving me s

£26.5k!! These were high on my shortlist when I changed cars this time last year but I was looking at spending around £10k. Was it not possible to buy a UK one and export it (appreciate it would have been RHD though), I remember seeing a thread where someone bought a UK one and drove it back to Italy.
They are great looking cars and drive very well, love the rear lights however I think the in car entertainment lets the car down and is too dated, the radio is awful and because it is built in, cannot be replaced easily, you need a whole new dash panel with a double din cut out.
In the end, I decided to go with my heart and got a 159 Ti saloon but still smile every time I see a GQV on the road. Its a shame they didn't update the interior on the newer ones that have the dual clutch auto box.
edit: Just noticed one benefit of the LHD car, you get a footrest! On the RHD, you don't get this as the clutch is too close to the transmission tunnel which is a bit of a pain once you have driven cars with a footrest and got use to it.

Without a doubt they've thought of that clever plan. There will be some kind of enormous registration fee that'll make it a similar price or even more overall, I bet. They are great looking cars and drive very well, love the rear lights however I think the in car entertainment lets the car down and is too dated, the radio is awful and because it is built in, cannot be replaced easily, you need a whole new dash panel with a double din cut out.

Import tax. Which is normally 100% of the norwegian value. So for arguments sake, pay 10k for the car in the uk then have to pay anything from 26k to 33k as import tax as thass what these are going for used over here. So all in total investment of 36k minimum. Trust me if it was possible I'd be all over it.
