I bought a non date Submariner (14060) secondhand about 12 years ago. Pretty sure I paid about £1500 for it, a new one being about £2200 at the time. Complete set in good condition. It was my daily for a few years, but got worn less frequently as my collection grew.

I was looking at a Zenith Rainbow Flyback last week, talking to the shop owner about trading in one of my other watches. I thought it would be a good idea the check what the more valuable watches in my collection were currently on sale for, and found the Chrono24 website.
Quite a few non date Subs on there, the cheapest complete set was £4100, going up to over £5000, so around 3 times the price I paid. Seems a bit crazy.

Checking out some of my other watches (all bought secondhand, or new with a healthy discount), the worst performing one (TAG Targa Florio) has gone up by 50%, the best (Zenith Chrono Moon) has doubled.

I realise that these are dealer selling prices, not what I would actually get if I sold them, and inflation and exchange rates have to be taken into account, but it's good to know that I haven't really lost much, if anything, over the years.

Well you've got some retails to go by, I would then see what the dealer is willing to pay and go from there.

I paid 1275 for my new Breitling Aerospace in 2001.
I never even looked at Rolex back then. I reckon Aerospaces are in the 1200 mark so not much movement on my watch compared with your 14060.

Further ammunition for my man maths sessions, during which I tell myself buying watches is an investment smile

Plenty of people bought Daytonas for 3-4k that are worth treble that now, the right watches genuinely do outperform some other asset classes.

Granted there are also a lot of rose gold Hublot owners for whom it is the other way round.

Paid £1290 equivalent in Swiss Francs when I bought my non date sub 16 years ago.

They had a SD in stock which I declined as it was about £200 more at the time.

Should have bought them both in hindsight.

Daily wearer, never been serviced yet , it gets the occasional wash with shaving foam in the shower but that's it.

Still like the look of it all these years later.
