Dog Shampoo - FFS, can't believe I'm posting this!

One of ours might have some sort of allergy - his skin is quite pink in places & he secretes a fair bit of oil.

I though this was part of the natural waterproofing but the vet said not.

So if anyone has a recommendation for a good shampoo for canines with sensitive skin, I'd be grateful.

He's still on bi-monthly baths with medicated (prescription) shampoo at the mo, but thinking ahead for when this treatment finishes in the next couple of weeks.

Ours was scratching her skin off, vets prescibed malaseb and she's stopped scratching. It's available to buy after a quick Google so get some and hopefully it'll fix your scratchy one.

What breed is your dog, Smiler?

Our EBT rescue dog has the same symptoms and has been on a prescribed 5mg of Predisinone.
Which looks like she will be on for life.

Malaseb is a great shampoo but will be under vet prescription, you can't buy it without a prescription (or shouldn't)

OP if the Vet didn't recommend eg malaseb (which is an antifungal/ antibacterial shampoo) it may be because he didn't think it was needed but it would be worth asking/ checking. If so I'd recommend and Aloe and oatmeal shampoo like Coatex

That's a real shame. Most vets try really hard not to go down long term steroids for skin issues but assuming allergy trials have been successfully tried and skin work ups etc it does still sometimes end up this way.

This is what we use. Our dog doesn't have allergies, but does seems to have sensitive skin. She only gets bathed when she rolls or gets very filthy (not that irregularly unfortunately) but this stuff is great and does seem to help. She only a little Patterdale/JRT too so it last ages!

Hound keeps getting inflamed ears. Vet pointed out that he was pink between the toes as well, and that this combination is often due to allergy. He treated him with a topical steroid, which cleared it up, but says that if it keeps coming back we may need to look at allergy testing.
