Well as you know we have our fair share of roundabouts in the Bucks/Beds area. It's 17 from junction 13 M1 to my house west of MK.

What really annoys me more than middle lane hogs is the idiots who either don't signal their direction or signal it incorrectly when taking the exit off the roundabout.

Is it just me or do we think this has got worse and anyone have any theories why?

Yes it does seem to be getting worse along with most driving standards. To many the car is a pure item to get from A to B and requires them only to turn the steering wheel at predetermined points in their journey whilst using as little of their brain power as possible to reach their destination.
Perhaps the ability to pilot a potentially lethal weapon should require passing more than the rudimentary driving test we currently have along with regular refreshers to retain that right.

I run that gauntlet everyday too as I work in Hemel. Much amusement.

I suspect it's drivers coming from the continent who now live here......

People esp. older gen. really need to get to grips with spiral roundabouts (amongst other things). Folk just don't understand the 'move over a lane' principal of them. It causes so many near misses it ain't funny. Tesco Hatfield is a prime example. I had near misses EVERY two weeks when I took the other half to Watford Junction. Peeps should try and follow the markings. It used to flow great then they spiralled it AND added traffic lights too. (When it was a 'free for all', people had respect). To many seniors, a roundabout is a roundabout - it's not a stop 3/4 of the way round a roundabout and it ain't a move overabout in their eyes either. Worse still, it's not even consistent. Admittedly a lotta folk don't read the lane markings but when worn or wet they aren't wonderfully clear either. You can also (mistakenly at Hatfield) clearly see other lanes red/green lights and believe them to be yours. I've even spoken to traffic police and they say councils don't even mark 'em up correctly all of the time. Of course, I should try to avoid an accident (as police said), but if you think you can cut me up and force me into the path of another vehicle just 'cause YOU f**ked up, think again. I can't move over and endanger others in a wreckless fashion and ain't gonna move either and it'll be YOU in the wrong.
Many years ago, my driving instructor taught me If I made a mistake, continue and turn around at the safest & first legal possible place - not to change lanes suddenly in complete disregard of all other road users 'cause you f***ed up. This I still do even though it may take miles and a lot of time. Rant over (for the moment). wink

Oh, and even at 3am in the morning I'll still drive AROUND a mini roundabout in the VXR8. Always have done and always will - that's why I whinge about tts in Micra's or 4WD's that think it's okay to drive over 'em. IT AIN'T! Nuff said.

Easy to drive AROUND in a VXR8 - I've tried that in my Ute and GTS-R
