Maybe it's always been the same (?), but just seems lately people can't get enough of Rolex! I know there has always been a bit of a wait for a Daytona, but now the BLNR seems almost as sought after. Other models (sport) seem very very sought after / in short supply too. It reminds me a bit of Porsche - anything from the 'gt' department (GT4/3/2) has suddenly become uber cool and highly sough after / collectable, with premiums being paid to own one for those lucky to be first on the waiting list / or a 'loyal' customer to the brand. Is Rolex holding stock back to create a supply and demand issue or are we a bit daft in the U.K.?

FWIW I have a Milgauss and I genuinely like Rolex watches - helped immensely by the fact they hold their value.

10% price rise kicked in yesterday. AD's may have been holding back stock until yesterday.

Good point but I do think we have become a bit Rolex mad. I used to walk past an AD every week (Salloways) and they regularly had sport models in the window (apart from SS Daytona).

This^ UK is possibly the cheapest place to buy even with the increase and of course the £ might keep falling.

The weak £ would explain some of the increase in sales though possibly not all of it. There's no chatter about a shortage of Omega Seamasters or Breitling Seawolfs for example, their £ cost would have dropped the same percentage as any Rolex model. The rumbling rumour of Rolex increasing their retail price - since implemented - was probably a greater cause for an increase in demand.

Probably not so because a Rolex will retain most if not all of its value if stored/unworn.

It's not a UK thing, though!

My local Norway AD used to get loads of sports watches. For a first batch of SD4000's he received 7. He used to get 1 black and 1 white SS Daytona every 6 weeks - whilst the UK had years of waiting lists. But, it's changed days now. Last month NO SS sports, this month 1 SD, 1 BLNR GMT - gone 1st day and 1 Deep Sea Blue - gone, though I tried it on last night before it went off. They've seen 1 ceramic Daytona but that is now up for sale at £14k through a website.

Today loads of minor Tudors, but no sports watches, and no Bronze.

I can't believe Rolex are pumping out the numbers they used to, or they are going to the far East...

Rolex have always retained a higher percentage of the initial purchase price (in general), I was referring to the fact that with the devaluation of the £ the initial purchase price has dropped for everything and not just Rolex smile
