yes isn't it.

tends to be a bit of a dead forum this one. mind you it may liven up come summer time when you get all those from south of the border asking "hey "jock" whats your best rahhds, maiht to drive on?"

well what do you tell them? they're all good of course. do you send them on the ones with all the caravans or the ones with all the speed cameras or tourist buses or tell them the truth and clog up your own favourite little circuit.

well i had to write something!

Aye aye John, f'like mannie?

I've had an Outlook reminder to email you for weeks now - since I asked if it was you at Queen's Cross that morning ... but I'm useless

The reason I wanted to speak to you was to see what your opinion was on this.

Anyway, I managed to get a good deal on two part worn 7" and two 8" ACB10's so I'll give them a go. I'm sure that was your recommendation when we spoke about this last year.

No, not doing Golspie. Too much of a trek for one day that doesn't count for any championship.

I've actually entered the SSC as well as the HSC this year (sorry, I'll have to have a Guyson sticker on as well ). My first event will actually be Kames on (IIRC) 24/04/05.

Details of my plans are here.

I went to John's KH day a couple of weeks ago. Clutch finally ran out of adjustment so I spent most of the session changing the clutch in the paddock freezing my nads off.

Managed about an hour on track though and the car seems to be going fine. (I didn't have the ACB10's on).

My plan is to get the geometry done prior to the start of the season. Too much of a fiddle for me so I'm going to get someone to do it. I've heard good reports on Overton Garage (near Ellon). They apparently did some similar work on Dick Bridger's Dax Rush and seemed to be fine. Have you any experience or is there anyone else you'd recommend?

My pal Murray (posts here as Corpulent Tosser) has sold his Tiger and bought a K-series engined Striker. It's a tidy car and he'll be competing in it this year.

Anyway, that's all for now. Hope to see you soon.

Cheers,

N

Oi, you! - get back to your own forum!

BTW - T&C offer £547 for extended warranty. How does that stack up with the figures you spoke of about a month ago?

I never did say cheers properly for the KH day - thanks man! Cracking organisation as usual and an excellent cross section of cars. Great to see the two Nobles on track ... oh, the red one ... oh

That lime green R500 was so quick

What was the score with that 911? It only seemed to do a couple of laps at a time. Frighteningly fast though - what is it.

Cheers,

N

Eric,

Jings -you've got a busy season ahead!

Re tyres - I run 6" front and 7" rear -same as Paul Rhodes on his Caterham and that works well -[I had to buy bigger rims for the rear.] Your power to weight should be a little better so 7's and 8's should work well.

Paul's doing Golspie in our OMS - I'm transporting it up for him but not competing. (I'm planning to do the first part of the season in the Lotus and don't want to put the BDA through a "non-counting" event.)

Re set-up - you'll want to run with less / no neg camber - I'll see if I can get Matthew's settings for you. There's a garage in Banff that's supposed to be bee's knees for that

See you soon

JP

PS Was the 911 Jim Geddie? - (He hired all of Knockhill yesterday by himself for further testing!!)

Aye John,

Some shots of the Porsche here.

If you can get Matthew's settings and details of the place in Banff, that's be great.

Numptie,

S&S were offering two years warranty for about £500 and about £320 for a single year.

Porsche is owned by Jim Geddie, a good friend of John's He had a few people driving it during the day, some of whom managed to put it off the track.

It was lapping in around 57s - he wasn't timing but the car does have full on-board telemetry. Quite impressive thay way it mapped out the whole circuit to the nearest nth of a meter based only on the reading from a G-sensor!

The green R500 was actually an R400. There is a video of it following me available (and letting it pass ) on the SIDC site.

Aye, I've just had a look at that you were fairly nippin' on as well (I guess you had the sticky tyres on at the time)

Hmmm, I'm going to have to read that letter again when I get home.

Ready to assist - but I'll be trying not to puncture my sump going down the access road, two days before the event, like I did last year . Spent the whole next day desperately trying to find a tig welder to fix it.

Aye, just warming them up. Car had been sat for an hour or two in the paddock, so did two warm up laps and then went off to find out how good the tyres were. That was my 3rd lap on video so wasn't sure how much grip they had. In reality they are better than the F1s, but probably much the same as the RE-070s though the Dunlops did seem to warm up quicker.

The Pirelli's that Martin and Del tried were much stickier. Not only were they directional, but also marked left and right! Willie's still got a set of Avon full slicks to try also.

I've still got those wheels and tyres if you want to do a bit of evaluation ?

John,

Still got bearing concerns (yeah, yeah, I know ... ) so prolly not a good idea to go mental out the SDR with sticky tyres at the mo.

#10's at 17:03?
