If anyone knows where I can get hold of a G50 gearbox (pref. with starter motor, ring gear and complete clutch) for reasonable money, could you let me know.

I'd try Douglas Valley breakers, they're not the cheapest but aren't badly priced and you get a three month guarantee I think.

Dave
ps: How's the Ultima build going - I'm assuming that's what you need it for?

Have heard less than complimentary things about Douglas Valley so not too keen on going that route.

Ultima is going well ta. Just speccing the engine so need the gearbox in about 8 weeks.

Cheers

A copy of Porsche and 911 World will elicit a few more breaker's numbers. If you can't get to WHSmiths, email me and I'll dig out a back issue and see what I can find.

Also try the www.chp.ltd.uk website, publishers of above mag. They have some classifieds online.

Good luck with the build, Guy tells me you are making very good progress.

Thanks Domster,

Guy suggested I email you about this (which I did) before I read your posting. I'll have a gander in the mags.

Thanks

There is a G50 box with LSD, 22K miles for sale at £1200 in the classified ad's in the back of the PCGB magazine this month. Also a pair of new G50 driveshafts @ £375 and some other brakes & stuff. Tel number is 01403 783988 m 07967 813477 - I've no idea if these are good prices or not - buyer beware !

Oh, and Cambridge Motorsport do a much lighter starter motor for 911's - I don't have their number but have a look in the back of Autosport, they advertise in there every week.
