Is it possible to leave a 'deleted at original poster's request' notification when threads are deleted? Recently there was a thread about the OP's daughter receiving a V5C from the DVLA for a car she hadn't bought and for which she had cancelled the finance agreement with the dealer by phone. Some of us were trying to advise the OP and asked for clarification when the thread vanished.

In such circumstances, would it be possibe to insert a 'deleted at original poster's request' message?

Is there a policy now to delete threads rather than close them but leaving them available to be read?

It really depends on the content of the thread in question, if leaving the thread could result in legality matters then it will be deleted. The OP of the report usually requests removal, closure etc, we would in the main follow that request.

Thanks Big Al, I haven't noticed to many closed threads recently but several posts re threads that have been removed.
