Forgive my ignorance if this is bleedin' obvious to you good folk but I've just seen something which rather bemused me.

Traffic warden slapping a ticket on a car in a forbidden zone. Think it's b*ll*cks myself but fair enough, rules is rules and all that.

However, said warden then produced a digital stills camera from the pouch and proceeded to snap both the number plate and then the 'no parking' sign.

Er, isn't this a little excessive for this most overprosecuted of civil misdemeanors? And at the risk of doing a Meldrew, who the bleedin' hell is paying for all this pointless technological expenditure?

Not an issue of national import but I felt it pertinent to report a new variation (as far as I was aware) in the extent of this most loathed, motorist persecuting activity.

Wasn't there a story recently about a council somewhere in England who have some TWs on scooters to chase after drivers who drive away whilst the ticket is being filled in?

Scary thought. I wonder where their jurisdiction would end?!!!

If you're parked legally then you have nothing to fear - if there was a piccy kept for every ticket issued you could simply call them up and have them look at pic x99x and see where the incident took place/prove your innocence. Oh, they might lose some pictures of course ....

Excellent Clanger . I know around Wigan and in Manchester they all have scooters. Not to chase people, just to be able to get to the next robbing area quicker, therefore getting more money because more can be covered. Maybe if we took a picture of their scooters parked illegally we could all do this
