Has anyone any experience for Frederique Constant?

I know they are a young brand but I've seen a couple of models I like the look of.

Why would you. It's a Dutch brand pretending to be Swiss. Better yet recently they were acquired by Citizen. There are other wicked options with pedigree out there like Nomos, Sinn, Damasko, Stowa.

Being owed by Citizen is not an issue to me and I like the fact they have developed their own in house movement.

I've always had a soft spot for them. Yes, the couple that set up the company are Dutch but they didn't do anything different to other recently-formed brands. Their watches are mostly dress watches, have been priced reasonably and are of decent quality. The brand bought the Alpina business (itself a new watch business with a resurrected name) and developed in-house movement capability. Hodinkee and some of the other watch enthusiast websites rated FC, especially the moon-phase models.

So they're now owned by Citizen? I don't see a problem there.

Never said that being bought by Citizen is a bad thing, merely pointing it out. It doesn't stop it being a stter brand though. And an in-house movement, sorry but I'd rather have an ETA based stter than the one with an in-stter movement, which is definitely not as robust and tested as ETA and which most likely in some time you might be not able to service if the brand goes under.

Amusingly, both Nomos and Damasko offer in-house movements in some models.

Neither are a stter brand though.

I note your repeated use of the word 'stter' on this forum in relation to certain watches.

Could you enlighten me as the definition? Is it the price, specific manufacturers, age, movement, brand, ownership of brand?

Thanks!

Simple, stter is a kind of a watch which derives its value from marketing to gullible masses. Like a watch that needs to be sold with a model car/boat/plane and which, the moment you put it on your wrist, becomes less valuable than the model car/boat/plane that came with it.
