Good evening chaps.
Not-so mini-wijit has some money from a bequest from my Father passing. Although he has £1000, he has seen the watch below and is seriously thinking on it.
Please could you take a look and give me your honest opinions on the style and quality, especially longevity?
This represents a major purchase for him, and in the circumstances it would also have a highly emotional meaning too.
Thank you.

If it were me I would be looking to own a mechanical movement and a watch that will last a lifetime something to remember him by. Quartz movements are not known for lasting a lifetime where as a quality Swiss movement will. Just me

That sounds good advice, thanks.
As I know less than nothing, could you point me in the direction of the sort of thing to look at?

He has £1000, but it looks like he wants to spend half on clothes so realistically I think £500 with flexibility either side.

I should also mention he doesn't like metal straps either.

Seems good advice (there's someting a little more 'special' about a mechanical watch, I think) and not much more...

Check out the range of Hamilton watches on Creation; well made and we'll priced automatics with brand heritage in a similar style to the Longines in the OP.

I bought a Khaki King automatic with a display back for a little over £300 and it's a great watch for the money.

Just to update you, he went for the Longines in the end. He looked at aHamilton and a Tissot limited one.
He had probably already decided before I showed him this.
But he's extremely happy with it, so I can't criticise him. For a 17 year old it is a nice watch with a classic look.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
