Try before you buy, wear something special for a big day, holiday watch or just show off to your peers.

I can guess what the PH response would be however would 'people' rent?

Interested to hear your replies!

Surely the whole point of a nice watch is the joy of ownership?

Or am I just odd?

I can imagine it being a hit in some of our more.........diverse enclaves in the british isles.

The type of places where Lambo's are procured for turning up for one's nuptials.

How do you envisage the deposit and insurance situation?

There are a few companies doing it already.

Same as anything expensive like a supercar maybe.

Must admit I guess it's a bit easier to flog a Rolex in the Dog and Duck than a 458.

Never even thought of someone wanting this.

Definitely not something i would be interested in as the chap said above its not just about having it on your wrist its having the whole ownership experience and relationships with the company/ dealer.

See it all the time when out in certain places in Essex. Bloody hilarious to see the plebs spending all night showing off the Rolex Daytona to their friends and the trying to figure out how to reset the chrono hehe

Rent? 'Fund', surely? - Concluded by 'pulling the trigger'.

Try before you buy doesn't sound a terrible idea actually.

The way some people seem to flip watches suggest that they often get bought on the spur of the moment and then moved on very quickly.

Not sure about the concept of 'enjoying the relationship with a dealer' - Sounds like being a soft touch for a salesman to me! biggrin

What do they cost to buy? Is it any more bonkers than leasing a car?

Not least because you can mix and match, I presume (I didn't read all the details).

Is there a minimum membership period? I'm guessing so.

Most of the watches in that category are probably 20k plus but even at that, you could save that amount in a couple of years, buy second hand and change whenever you took the fancy. At least that way you would own a watch at the end of it.

Watches don't depreciate like cars, especially when bought second hand, so i struggle to see the upside in this.
