Hi all,
Thought I'd get round to making a thread on my car. As some of you know, I was the incredibly lucky winner of the BOTB competition back in March winning a Range Rover Sport. At the time I was searching for my first property and ultimately the property I selected required that I sell the Rangie to free up a small amount of funds to purchase it. I collected the sport in May which was a pretty incredible experience for a 25 year old. Sadly, I only got to drive the car home from Stratstone Mayfair before it was sold to a large dealer in Harrogate.
With a decent car fund to play with I test drove a number of vehicles from different manufacturers. This included a v8 F-type which I enjoyed but the sports seats ruined my back for some reason and the comfort seat option is a nightmare come resale time. I asked the dealer to give me a call when I could drive the car for a bit longer to see if I could find a seating position that worked but they never got back to me, maybe assuming that I was a timewaster/test pilot. Off to BMW I went and drove the M4 which I enjoyed, mainly due to its straight line punch. I recall feeling that it was a little dull to drive at anything other than max attack and I really didn't get on with the engine or exhaust noise. Despite this I got an incredible deal on a factory order competition pack car which I ended up ordering.
Whilst on order I had a nagging feeling that I was spending too much on a car, especially one that had 't blown me away. I had always wanted a C63 AMG - it was very much something I was working towards in the not too distant future. One lunchtime at work I went onto autotrader and found a very low mileage (9k) example with the oyster interior I wanted (hate dark interiors) about two miles from my house in Weybridge at a local dealer. It kind of felt like it was meant to be so I went down and drove it and long story short I loved it. It has everything that I felt the M4 was lacking - namely the V8 and a satanic sound. The M4 was undoubtedly the more competent car but as cliche as it sounds and probably is, the C63 had a certain aura about it that meant it was fun to drive slowly as well as quickly.
A deal was finally agreed upon and I drove way a week or so later in my new C63. A couple of months on and I still adore it. I took it upto the evo triangle with some friends in various cars including a 111s and a standard Caterham and was extremely impressed with how it performed. Monster straight line performance and very strong, even grip. It never once tried to break away on me and let's just say we got to the point where we could hear the tyres biting into the road. I must admit on the first run I was half expecting it to try and kill me at some point. Safe to say its limits are higher than I am prepared to go to on public roads.
I've had no issues to speak of so far save a loose underbody bracket that my local MB dealer screwed back on for free which I was quire impressed with. The noise is epic and tunnels become your new favourite things. It's been detailed and paint protected by the brilliant Ed at divine detail and now comes up beautifully after a wash and a wax. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Looks fantastic. im also 25 and picked my C63 up a fortnight ago.. i absolutely adore it. I must admit coming from an R32 which was extremely planted, i have been a bit twitchy about pressing on but im definitely getting more confident with it as time goes on.
Is it Oyster or the Porcelin interior you have? lets have a nose!
Is it a well specd car? Mine is missing the harmon kardon and LSD and to be honest i dont miss them either.. the radio is on low and windows down most of time to hear that epic noise.

Funnily enough I've been following your threads too. You're car looks mint. I also came from a 6cylinder hot hatch (130i) too so similar path.
You're right, it is the Porcelin. Will get some pics for you. I would say my car is middle specced - it has command online, DAB, reversing camera and HK. I'm not fussed about lack of LSD as will fit with a quaife which is a better product than OEM anyway.
Would have liked performance pack for the sls engine internals but I didn't feel it was worth the premium. I couldn't find one with a mileage as low as mine either.
How are you getting on with yours?
Not ideal, it could interfere with the hydrophobic properties of the ceramic coating and you may be introducing further swirls or scratches by repeatedly adding wax. You would be better off using products designed to work with your ceramic coating.
For example - cquartz UK/finest - use Reload. Gtechniq Crystal serum or c1/c1+ or exov1/v2, you can use C2v3
i will open hose rinse the car after washing and then mist on the panel and dry finally with a towel using the c2v3 or reload when panel is wet/damp reduces streaking and eases drying!
To be fair nothiing wrong using c2v3 on cquartz either. Or there are products out there which you dilute with water and spray on and rinse off which adds protection to your car (look up Nanolex Washcoat, carpro hydro2 etc).

Lovely car buddy. I have a similar spec car too (Black, silver 19's, but with black interior). Picked mine up towards the end of last year and it still tickles my pickle.
I absolutely love it, and completely agree with the statement that it's great at any speed. It's one of the reasons I love it so much.

Mine has just had secondary cat delete at MSL which i would recommend!

The range was a fantastic bit of kit, very quick for a bus and they just absolutely are the best cruisey car available. I was very sad to let it go and I will have one again in the future as a daily.
Current plans are eurocharged v5 and a quaife diff. I don't find it in any way lacking I performance at the moment so it will be ballistic with the map. I've debated the headers but seriously cannot see the need currently. I'd have to get the ipe valvetronic exhaust to make it less offensive noise wise when I so chose.
Tell me about the cat delete. Guess it gives you some more noise? Any issues likely at MOT time?

I remember your thread a while ago, before you got the RRS, asking about C63s - good to see you finally got one, even over the Range!
Plenty of time for RRS's when we are old with bad backs
I'll be booking in for the Eurocharged map also - can't imagine another 50+ BHP i agree it will be brutal!
Cat delete so far so good. Loved the standard exhaust note but wanted a bit more volume - this pretty much achieves that.
It's not overly loud, perhaps 50% louder at full chat. No drone, and still quiet at lower revs. Sounds a little deeper. Cold starts are even more savage! Not sure about the MOT issue...
