ZZS as a race wet
Discussion
A couple of random questions about ZZS as a wet race tyre (as used on the R300s). Anyone know what the 'normal' camber settings would be? Is this different from the ZZR in the dry? I assume not, as it's not straightforward to change rear camber.
And finally was or is the ZZS used anywhere in Caterham racing for the wet tyre where the dry tyre is an Avon crossply slick?
Cheers

The camber settings seem to stay the same as the Zzr but the tyre doesn't give much grip in the wet for some reason, it looks like it should do with the tread pattern but we found the old Csr 500s better, if you have a choice the Khumo in soft takes some beating as a road legal wet.
Not sure about the second question but I doubt it.

Thanks. What kind of camber gets use. The Avon website says 4 degrees max but I doubt it's anything like that much!
2 1\2 on the rear, 3 to 3/12 on the front, but if you had time to set it up you for the wet you would only go to 2. 2/12 front as well, we run full caster but as you said it takes too much time to re set up before the race if you had a dry set up and then it rains 15 mins before you go out, best results were to use 1/2 caster front and quite high on the pleasures around 28/30 psi.But it isn't a good wet tyre but very good if it drys whilst your out.
I've just tried them as a 1B sprint tyre. Pretty disappointed in them - nothing like as grippy as the Kumho v70, or the ZZR for that matter. Once they let go, they are slow to recover and were horrible in the wet. Really just a road tyre IMHO. I'm running 2.5 dgrees camber on the front and std ears on the rear. I suspect with a little experience I could get them to work better, but the R888's do the job, so I'm going back to them.
That's what I thought Stuart!
And thanks all for the info. Much appreciated.

There hasn't been a Caterham race series that used a cross-ply slick since about 2005!Cheers
