Just looking for some advice..
I have a 2002 Cooper S, I've had a few problems (blown my engine twice)
My friend did some work on my engine and put a pulley kit on the supercharger, he told me I should get it mapped but I didn't get round to it and blew one of cylinders/Pistons (something like that)
I've just had a new cylinder head fitted but I'm too scared to drive it Incase I blow something else up
I would just like to know how people have got on with pulleys and if remaping with one on has been successful.. And if I'd need any extras for it to be beneficial

Also if anyone around the South East knows of anywhere to Map at a decent cost

Money is tight so not looking to spend masses and I'm not bothered about extra performance
Thanks 😬

If you're not bothered about a performance increase, and no other tuning work was done to the engine apart from the pulley swap, I'd be tempted to just pop the standard pulley and belt back on and return the car to stock. Will be best for reliability and for running on a budget.

There's nothing wrong with just installing a reduced pulley, but intake temps do suffer if you're on track or doing a lot of third/fourth gear pulls.

No need to remap until you're fitting injectors/cams.

1320 are pretty much the only reliable remapper of the supercharged mini, do a bit of searching before commit to anyone else.

Everyone tends to say this, however there are an awful lot of trashed engines.

The only map worth doing to an R53 MCS is a tailored one, so without this budget, either don't hammer the car everywhere, and just use the extra torque up to 4.5k max, or put it back how it was.

That said you may have been unaware the engine already had issues or if any other contributing factors, pulley may have been a coincidence.

As said I wouldn't bother with a map with just a pulley upgrade... getting the cooling sorted is much more important.

1320/Lohen know their stuff. Although personally I travel to Millsys in Nuneaton - Great service, great prices.
