Mad dash to SPA Belguim GP

I know this is an Ultima forum, but those Gixxer1000's are bad dudes! My brother inlaw has pulled wheelies at over 150mph on one. He also fell off the back of one doing a wheel stand at over 130mph on the freeway in bluejeans and a t-shirt. Talk about road rash! The bike fell on top of him due to a strong gust of wind that blew the bike back. Didn't stop him from buying another one though...with more mods than his original.

When Stig and I went to the Ultima factory to order his kit we were talking to Ted about some pictures he had showing an Ultima in a wind tunnel. He told us that they'd done it because one of their customers had contacted them and said that he wanted to do a 200mph run.
Their results showed that for the best stability at high speeds, you should be running with a decent sized splitter, and the rear wing should be set flat. They removed the upper element from the rear wing in their tests.
Be careful. 200mph is easily fast enough to do yourself some serious damage if it all goes wrong.
I hope you manage it

Good point, that last one, James.
Sorry to go slightly off the Ultima thing for a sec but what actually are the aerodynamic pros and cons of achieving 200+ mph WITHOUT attending to certain wind-directing factors?
I ask because I have been advised to go for a GT2 style ground effect front spoiler on my own car (911) for these type of runs.
Having already done an indicated 195 in said vehicle (quite briefly) things didn't feel massively 'last rite-inducing,' as it were.
Do things get different above a certain level? I recall the problems Porsche had with their 917s etc in the early 70s in this department so I wonder?

The factory also do a kit that opens up the side vents behind the front wheels. The aim is to reduce lift generated from the ducting to the brakes. I have bought the kit but (according to the factory) takes hours to fit. I really think you should have this if you are doing 200+. Also what power figures do you have for the engine. Finally can you open the front with the splitter??
