Lamborghini Diablo Roadster
Discussion
Hiya,
Well first off this is my first post here, i've been reading the boards for ages now, but now I think it's time for me to join in- so a big hello to everyone and may I be the first to say what absolutely awesome cars you all have!
Back on topic, the Diablo Roadster has always been my dream car, and now that it's actually looking (reasonably) affordable as far as Lambos go, I need to know more about them. What to look out for when buying, an idea of servicing costs, and general costs of ownership? Does anybody here have a Diablo who wouldn't mind me bending their ear about them?
I appreciate any advice and help in advice, and I look forward to becoming a more active member in this little corner of PH.

From profile
The car officially died in Feb 2005, after a little incident at the end of 2004. Very sad and sacrilege I know, but choosing to have it put down was the best thing for it!
Also have a trip over to www.lambo-power.com.
There are a few UK owners with Diablos and plenty of US based owners as well.

Hiya Mr T,
They got a bit of a slating in the press - mainly cos the perception was that it was only created for people to pose in, and not a proper convertible conversion. I dont actually know the truth behind that (Anjum may), and I've only driven one and it wasn't for a huge distance.
The things which obviously concern most about a roadster version of a coupe (scuttle shake, poor body control etc..) weren't immediately apparent - but Im afraid that when you're driving a V12 around, some of the more subtle sensations are only easy to spot with more familiarity! that said - was top fun and the sound with the roof off was genuinely terrifying. The conversion itself is fine, and the roof is actually pretty clever (it sucks itself onto the engine!) but the loks have definitely divided opion, and I somhow doubts it improves the handling - which isn't exactly in elise territory anyway.....
great car to play with and have as fun. not the most convincing roadster ever made but who cares eh?
erm...and would say that the diablo is definitely the pinnacle of the Lambo owning tree - the Gallardo and murci are for girls like Simon and Tuan (kidding guys!!)

But watch out for Alan Lambo who is a prize c0ck!
who is also one of the world's most knowledgeable people on the diablo. He just enjoys winding people up
www.jasonbarker.co.uk has a roadster atm
Horses for courses - some people love them - some don't! I'm not a fan at all.
Yes there's scuttle shake - but a diablo at full chat (with or without a roof) has your eyeball bouncing around the back of your scull!!!
There is definately more flex in the chassis - but this really ddepends on how you drive the beast (I know a guy who has never seen three figures in his Diablo SV........and doesn't want to......)
I think the styling is compromised - but - as I say - that my own personal opinion - especially around the air intakes and the rear of the car etc.
Makes sense in Miami - not so sure in the UK (although the Murci roadster makes sense in the north pole!!!)
