HSS Strat wiring
Discussion
Discussions on another thread got me to plugging in my old favourite ESP HSS Strat. The electrics are a bit crackly, it's got a TBX active boost from a younger part of my life when it was all about output rather than tone - so time for a rewire.
It's got a pair of seymour duncan hot rails neck and middle, and a pearly gates in the bridge. All with coil split, so loads of wiring options, but I want to keep it simple to use, so... My dilemma is the pearly gates. I want 5 distinct tones, so I'm considering splitting the pearly gates when it's in parallel with the middle so it's not overwhelming. But I don't know whether a split pearly gates it too thin and weedy against the middle hot rails. Anyone got experience with full vs split pearly gates running against a high output middle pickup? I'm more interested in getting a snarl than a quack, as bridge + middle is the position I use least on a regular Strat. :-)
