I wad thinking about getting my lad a nice watch for his 18th. Any recommendations? Aprox £300 budget.
I'm thinking something 'manly' but stylish, in silver with metal or leather strap.
Thanks in advance.

He’s 18, involve him in the decision – as much as we appreciate you’d like to surprise him.
A pre-owned Seiko SARB is one potential option, but if other family members are also stuck for ideas on what to buy him, then suggest money, which he can add to what you can afford, so he gets something new and what he likes the look of.
If that results in £5-600 budget, then another JDM Seiko which may be suitable, is the SDGM001 or 003 – I’ll let you search those references on Google images.

I bought a cracking Glycine Combat recently for less than that.

How about something from 1998 for his birth year?

if new, look at G.Gerlach. I love my P.24

I have one of these as a daily and can't fault it for the price.

Anything Seiko automatic - something for every taste, with the same bomb proof movement inside many different styled models.
Not the SAME movement inside all Seiko automatics, they make lots of different ones (some fairly ordinary, some very high tech).

We are talking about £300 or less, so more likely to be the same movement, did you really think I would expect all seiko to house the same auto movements. hehe
Not really, but I thought it worth mentioning for people who aren't as familiar.

Even up to £300 a Seiko 5 movement is quite different to a SARB017.

It's the kind of off the cuff remark that can lead to urban myths biggrin
