replacement speakers question

Ok, so numpty questions coming up but I haven't installed anything for a very long time!

Back in 2004 I went to an audio fitter in Herts recommended by Castle TVR, to install a hard drive player and head unit. While I was there they (of course) recommended a speaker upgrade and they fitted 4 Infinity Kappas with white grilles. However I always had trouble with the door speaker grilles popping out, and eventually one got lost and without a grille one of the speakers got broken, probably by clumsy foot, and is now missing a tweeter.

The fronts therefore need replacing and of course they don't make that model anymore. They are Kappa 62.5i. Thinking that the best chance of a match (to the rears and the head unit) would be to replace as similar as possible, I looked at Infinity 6.5" 2-way speakers and there's only one Kappa, the 62.11i. However, there are some differences:

62.5i: separate tweeter and woofer connections (4 terminals), and as far as I can tell from looking online, impedance is 4 ohms. It's not marked on the speaker. There seems to be a separate crossover box in the door void.
62.11i: as far as I can tell from online photos, only 1 pair of connections, and impedance of 2 ohms according to the Infinity website (although this reseller disagrees)

So the questions are: is it viable to replace 4 ohm fronts with 2 ohm ones (whilst keeping the existing rears, not sure what impedance they are without removing them) or will that lead to an imbalance or killing the head unit?

And if it's fine, what about the connections mismatch, do I just remove the crossovers from the wiring, assuming that they're built-in on the newer speakers?

The head unit manual only provides this info:

You need to know what impedance (ohms) the head unit can drive, otherwise too low a load could potentially melt the amp in the head unit.

If you don't have the info then I'd replace like for like.

Thanks, I'd feared as much. To complicate things, despite the audio fitters swearing that a larger speaker (than the originals) would fit fine, I can now see that they've shaved a large amount off of the plastic ring that the speaker fits into, cracking it in the process, to make it fit. Which may explain why the grille kept popping out. So even if I did but like-for-like, I'm not going to get it to fit myself without a similar bodge job. Sigh. I'll try Carl Brown again.

The 62.2i will work fine your headunit won't notice the difference I used these to replace a damaged pair of 62.5i's and they are working fine with no adverse effect on my headunit.
