quote:Eh? BTCC is a great race series.. Quality action and guaranteed paint exchanges.
i know the BTCC is pretty much hated on here
Yes - I'm a PS/2 fan (I've got loads of their Keyboards and Mice ), so I'll probably end up spending a lot of free time on this game when I get it.. sounds ace

I'm thinking of getting the PC one. Mainly because it has the biggest range of British tracks of any game I've found so far - except TOCA2 strangely.
I used F1-2002 to "learn" the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit before a Track Day there. Surprisingly useful. I found that I knew exactly where the track was going immediately rather than needing to do several familiarisation laps - more fun sooner on the day.
Does nothing for understanding how the car will handle or how to drive it of course...and I found the "racing-line" in the game was NOT what they coned out at all...

Been playing it here a bit too, only had it for a week and im really getting into it (although over here in NZ it's sold as V8 Supercar Race driver.... and although I'm not a V8 advocate, great race series though it is, piloting one of those things round bathurst is a GREAT experience). It beats GT3 hands down in terms of realistic handling and pace.... playing GT3 after TOCA is like playing TOCA in slow motion, absolutely NO sensation of speed at all!
CMR3 has been delayed to around november methinks coz they've pushed it back so that they could get TOCA out on time.
Must get to bed so i can get up early before university and try to crack another championship!

It's a pretty involving game, and with the kind of career management/job offers stuff, it does give a further dimension to what otherwise could have just been a stright driving game.
My single criticism is that I'm not sure if I'm a bit picky, but of the tracks that I've driven a few times (UK obvioulsy) the detail is a little sketchy.
Sensation of speed is great, and some of the crests around the Bathurst circuit nearly manage to get that 'heart in the mouth' sensation across.

Yeah, I'be been playing it for a week and I'm pretty impressed. Don't know about anyone else though, but when I drove the Motorsport Elise it sounded like some V8 monster, and when I won the Speed 12 off the Scottish guy round Brands (Ewan summat?) it sounded like a bloody lawnmower!

In Gran Turismo 3, the TVRs all sound like V4 motorbike engines or something.. I turn all the bass up on my amp etc but it just doesn't sound like a TVR - why? It can't be that difficult to sample the sounds of the cars in action can it, given the attention to detail in the graphical and mechanical aspects..
