e34 M5 Touring : advice?!

Hi all. Just wondered if anyone had any views on this, price-wise? Seeing that Alpina in the Geneva show pics has pulled at my heartstrings...

I too quite fancy this car and have had many moments where I have seriously thought about it, but I personally could not afford the running costs of an E34 M5, it is though a georgeous car, I almost prefer it in touring guise.
In the Feb issue of BMW Car they test drove an Italian Elekta model, which IMO is georgeous, it was being sold by German Cars in Kings Lynn I do not know if it is still for sale but I was sorely tempted to go and have a look, the car looked pristine

If that's as good as the advert (but what car is?) then that's a good price.....

Sounds like a very (suspiciously?) good value to me! I've had two of these now, and think that, for the money, there's no better combination of quality, pace and practicality.
I'd get it inspected however, they can cost big bucks if things go wrong - like £2500 to replace the electronic dampers, which will probably want doing at 100k miles. They are quite expensive to run, both in terms of fuel consumption (15-18mpg typically) and maintenance (my last bill was £2000 at Birds, for an Inspection II and a few bits and pieces - track rod ends, rear subframe bushes, etc etc)
But go into ownership of one of these with your eyes open, and they are fantastic pieces of kit - exclusive, handbuilt (like a bank vault) and fast (lets just say the 155mph limiter was a little "soft" on my first one!)

I'd want to know why it's not on the original wheels.
It's a very early Touring from the looks of it - I'd get the last 7 letters/numbers of the VIN (something like BL01234) and ask Karl on www.m5board.com whether he has the history - try this thread www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=13759 . He's in Sweden, but has records of virtually every M5T!!

Well, this particular one's gonna have to be a no go. Had a serious think, and just can't juggle the finances, so not even worth looking at it...
However, I think it's 99% that a similar one will be the next daily-driver (if I can find a good'un). Just gonna have to wait a few months til the £'s are sorted out...
