Just what I needed to read stuck in the office for another sunny(ish) afternoon - have fun.
Thanks!
What a hoot that was. There was some *seriously* quick machinery doing the rounds including a fabulous silver Ultima (owner very nice chap) and a 935? By heck those things were fast.
Good fun running with the top down - the smell of hot brakes was intoxicating.
Paddock Hill corner - bl**dy hell! What an experience. Brake, turn in. Ooops car is going light. Sphincter clutches at itself! Car drops away underneath you as you head for the apex. Now we're flying across the track heading for the rumble strip and the gravel trap. Uuurgh car comes up hard underneath you. Boing!Whew! It stopped.
Perhaps next time a tad more brakes? Chicken.....
Preferred Silverstone I think but great fun nonetheless.
I did one track day last year in a Chimeara I had, it was wet and I span twice (later found out the front brakes weren't working properly so it was rear biased!) still grinning from that.
Must try to save some pennies and do another. My new car insurance covers track days at £15 each max of three per year - look out for that spinning Red Boxster S!!

Out of interest - What tyres are you using, how were they on the track and are they now in shreds?
Pirelli P-Zero Assimetricos all round. Excellent road and track grip - although I haven't had the chance to do a direct comparison with the well regarded Michelin Pilot doodads.
They took some wear.
But it was only 40 minutes track-time - with a certain amount of traffic - and I was looking after my car too so the wear wasn't too bad really. They looked jolly hot and a bit "feathered" around the edges afterwards but a couple of hundred road miles should wear that out.
Personally I like the car to be just scrabbling for grip and not sliding so that must help...I'm not trying to get to the ragged edge - just have fun.
