Old People Pedestrians vs My wife.. :)
Discussion
Got home last night to hear a swift tale from my wife which I thought might make a couple of you smile.
She's driving towards a T junction in town, no cars behind her and good visibility all round. On the pavement a few yards from the T junction on the righhand pavement is the classic pair of "I fought in the war for you" old gits - man and wife, looking down the road towards her and the expanse of empty road behind her.
Then, when she's about 10 yards from the junction, they step out into the road to cross in front of her, which is a bit daft as Louise doesn't really have distance to stop and its her right of way.
Louise pulls up at the junction and passes said old gits walking across the road towards her lane:
Old Man(sarcastic shout): "Its alright Dear, we'll wait for you.."
(Loiuse watches them cross behind her car, then winds down passenger window)
Louise: "actaully DEAR, if you want people to give way to you, USE A CROSSING"
followed by:
"Old people today, No respect" (and a shake of the head)
Bless her

best check with an expert, not quite sure about that situation .. but I think pulling into a junction u have to give rite of way to pedestrians?
I believe that if you are turning INTO a junction you must allow pedestrians to cross. Approaching a T junction you would have right-of-way unless there is a crossing...madcop et al?
Hi all...
to answer...
Johno.. yep' she'll be at lunch, what time are you going to arrive so I can get a table.. ?
Podie.. they are electric windows... how else do you decribe their operation, they still wind don't they?
CleG, Don... either way the pedestrians were not at the junction, they were some yards from it.. if they'd been up by the white lines she'd have given way.
I can't abide old gits who think they own the world....
Cheers
Matt

M@t but it wont be long till we are the same .. only a few more years
It seems its a case of the mid street crosser .. a dealdy breed of over 70's (CleG hides form the older PHeaders)
I try to treat the wrinklys (ie over 40 ) like a stray dog .. always expect them to cross .. bonus if they dont
