Speaking to my dad yesterday and he was telling me about a rta just outside Manchester yesterday. He said as he approached the incident he could see the back of a van with flashing blue and red lights. As you would he clicked that this would be police.
Now for the twist, when he passed the van he saw it did not have police livery but was stickered up as a 24hour window boarding company van.
Now there had deffinataly been an accident, and there were deffinately police there, so this deffinataly was a police vehicle.
Has anyone else seen or heard of anything else like this?

No, I'm saying if they were to use such a vehicle to catch people speeding etc that would be well and truely out of order.

Surely this is just the same as an plain clothes police car. Who says a van should be any different?
Far from it IMO, plain unmarked cars are just that...unmarked, whereas the van in question is actually disguised as something else.
I can spot an unmarked car, if vans like this are to be used for traffic duties what chance do we stand?

I don’t understand you problem, the police disguise their police cars by taking off the logo’s, lights and change the colour to go in effect undetected and you agree this is ok but when they (if they acually are) disguise one of their vans its different somehow
So by your rational if the unmarked police car had a companies logo on the side you would have a problem
If the van was plain that would be ok ?????

Don't get me wrong, I don't like unmarked police cars, but you do at least have a sporting chance of spotting them.
If they started putting fake company signage on the cars it would make spotting them much harder. So yes this would be a problem
In the past I have spotted an unmarked car with a GB sticker on it and thought this was unfair.
Had the van been unmarked, yes this would have been better all IMHO of course.
Think about it, if you passed what you thought was a 24 hour boarding company van, and were then pulled over by that van, how would you feel?

I'd think 'cunning gits'. However, I hate to go all moral, but we are doing anything worthy of a tug, is this not surely our own blimmin' fault?
However, if I were stopped by a van marked with a company name, the only problem I would have is that being a female and on my own, I would be slightly worried about getting their identification.
The way I see is that if I am driving above the speedlimit and dont spot a marked or unmarked plod car, I deserve whatever I get for not being as observan as I should.

So its ok as long as you can spot them.
The whole point it that they are supposed to be undetectable to catch people doing things that they would not do if a fully liveried police car was there.

Isn't it time the motorway speed limit was raised to 155mph ? Bmw's are limited to that speed for safety so it makes sense.
