Noticed that CW have had a bit of a rebrand and a web site spruce up, with a new dial logo. I hated the old dial branding. Quite like the C65 Trident Classic II in 43mm:

And the 'vintage' version in 38mm:

Crikey, the price has risen a lot since the last time I looked at them! IMHO it seems bordering on too expensive perhaps?

In terms of simple reliability, are they as good as an equivalent priced seiko?

I really dislike it when companies change their branding. I can't quite put my finger on it, it just suggests something I'm not keen on.

I wouldn't mind the new branding if it heralded an end to their ridiculously-blatant plagiarism.

I was expecting to see comedy prices, but £500-£560 doesn't seem as expensive as I was expecting.

What does surprise me is that theyre still using ET2824s, along with the Sellita 200. The days when a 2824 is bottom grade can be bought for £30-odd has long since passed.

I'm not a watch expert at all. I just remember when they were perhaps 30-40% less. That seemed about "right" for who/what they are? Maybe it's just me.

Theyre definitely too dear and far dearer than when they appeared, but I was expecting dearer-still.

That style isn't for me but I'm pleased to see a manufacturer introducing an automatic at 38mm. Perhaps the tide is turning.

I have to admit, I do love their C5 Malvern Slimline Square: https://www.christopherward.co.uk/watches/dress/c5...

Sometimes it's OK, but in this case I agree, it's crap. Is it me, or is the new branding a bit...

Also, I have nothing to say here apart from "what utter bks".

Mixing formality with a sportier feel, the new C65 takes design cues from our best-selling C60 Trident Pro dive watch but discards the wetsuit in favour of more elegant attire. As comfortable on the deck of a boat as it is in a smart, new restaurant.

In the 1960s and '70s, the cool guys wore black polo-neck jumpers, drove sports cars (or at least Ford Capris) and charmed women with a twitch of their eyebrows. Meanwhile, the ladies had hair like Jane Fonda and were embracing the new-found freedoms that feminism was offering. It was a time of change – and this stunning new watch harks back to that incredible era.

And what's wrong with Jane Fonda?

Struggled to find a not too obvious pic. CW are NOT Jane Fonda's tits n Barbarella, and that's a fact.

Agreed that there's a market for mid-size automatics instead of the modern dinnerplate, although I fear it's aimed at the ladies' market where 28mm is no longer fashionable.

Alas the new logo, to me, is far less appealing than the previous, more discrete, "CW" or the serif "CHR.WARD".

I don't see why saying the trident is upside down warrants a moderator deleting my post! It's like a horse shoe - there's the correct way and then there's upside down.

Anyway, below from this months WatchPro magazine. Interesting to see the reference to diving at 2,000 feet. Jolly deep!

And perhaps an indicator of how Christopher Ward see their brand going:

The magazine incidentally is a free one for people working in the watch trade, and since most people on here like to buy and sell watches I think that counts for a free subscription.

And finally, I think this is the right way up for a trident. But if the moderator disagrees then please feel free to delete this post.

Just ordered a Jumping Hour Mk3 from CW - got to say, not sure I'd have done so with the new branding - just not all that nice and a bit too "waitrose" as suggested

I'm considering one final CW purchase before the old logo goes out of circulation only to be replaced by the godawful new one. But I can't bring myself to pay full price for a CW watch.
