Had my eye on this for a couple of months now, it's been sat in a lock up for around 10 years.
I collected it Tuesday thinking I'd get it running tidy it up and Caren could use it through the summer.
First thing she said, "I prefer the Caterham thanks"

Sounds like a keeper. And I don't mean the car!

Agreed. I had a Series V Competition ( 1500 crossflow with webers and hairy cam ) a few cars back from getting the present Cat7. Fond memories and remembering a long cross-country blat, arriving home sitting in a puddle of water. The rain hit the screen, ran up to top rail, under the hood lip and blew back into my lap. Classic motoring at its best.
Saw the Wheeler Dealers / Morgan programme repeat last week and what looked like a nice car needed a new chassis when examined underneath. Hidden horrors !

Keep the faith...

I've always loved the styling of the Morgans. However, when I saw the Wheeler Dealer programme some time ago, I was quite shocked at how crude the chassis was. they're not joking when they say the design dates back to the 1930s.

Also, why on earth do they make the floorpans out of plywood? Surely, Aluminium (or some other alloy that doesn't rust) would be more suitable.

Anyway, despite my misgivings over the design of the chassis, I'd love to own one.

Very different animals - the Morgan has the look and, in the case of the. more affordable ones, the dynamics of a 30s sports car - It's a classic car built today. The Caterham looks old but the chassis dynamics are anything but old fashioned. I'm surprised they appeal to the same buyers.

Morgan front suspension is nothing like as modern and cutting edge as the 1930s; I think it was patented in 1912..

Worst thing about Morgans is some of the bloody drivers; as a Seven owner I give a cheery wave to Seven-alikes of all breeds, old Porsches and MGs,all Lotuses and TVRs etc . It is nearly always reciprocated - and often they beat me to it and wave before I do.

Lovely- brotherhood of the road etc. But.....a sizeable percentage of Morgan owners , I find , not only don't wave back but refuse even to acknowledge one's existence .

So be the exception in your new purchase, do .
