The wiring in my '81 SC is not wonderful. Have you actually changed the fuse? They can look ok but....

What is the actual problem?

Last week the clock stopped working, and when I checked the fuse it had blown, looking at the manual it also supplys all interior lights incl; boot light and glovebox lamp,so i disconnected all the light fittings, and clock and replaced the fuse, which blew at once.

You need a digital meter and check for a short. The closer you get to the short the closer the reading will be to zero ohms.

Spot on with that, the [problem] turned out to be the courtesy light under front bonnet, the back of the little bulb inside was shorting out directly onto the underside of bonnet, maybee the holder has gotten bent out of shape over time or something, anyway disconnected untill a newer part is found
thank you
