Just a heads up for those who didn't know the Brilliant Cholmondeley Pageant Of Power has now been re named Power And Speed and is being held on the 10th 11th and 12th of June the theme this year is "Super cars Past Present and Future" and is looking awesome as I have had a sneak look at the list of cars already booked in.
Any Piston Heads members who come in their Classic, sports, collectors, super cars, please come in to car clubs at gate 2 as there will be a designated area for you guys and girls, there are no set arrive or departure times, please don't bury you pride and joy in the public car park.

I've just got the 25% off discount tickets, they have a real ale bar with comedy acts on the Friday and Saturday night too. I missed last year but its a good day out.
Just spotted this so thought I'd jump in, the beer festival is both nights, but the comedy is just on the Saturday night. Russ (highflyer on here) mentions that he's told his car park people to channel anything interesting-looking towards the car club area, so that might help. Someone else told me that they'd phoned the office to ask about parking in the club area when they're not in a car club, and didn't get much assistance - might be scope for improvement there next time.

I thought we got away with it quite well compared to the weather forecast. I was almost at a point where I felt the need to go back to the car for my coat, but not quite. By my rough count, 20-30 mins rain on Friday, 40 on Saturday, and maybe 90 on Sunday. Not a washout by any means, in a way quite annoying after the warm weather we've been having for the last couple of weeks, but a relief that it's cooled down a bit.
The trouble is, people look at the forecast, and if they were only 50/50 about going, it puts them off. Then the day turns out a bit better but it's not worth going later in the day as I think it's still full price on the gate whatever time you get there (as with most events, really).
There were quite a few gaps in the car club display, another thing I don't really understand. You go to the trouble of booking a space, presumably buying some tickets with the club discount code, then don't turn up. I guess for some it might just be to get the discount code, then turn up in a modern daily - and if that's the case, I'd think the organisers would be wise to make a note of clubs doing that and perhaps consider whether they deserve a place at future events - not because there's a lack of space as there is at some shows, but because all those gaps make the event look bad. If it's a small club, I guess they might have booked the stand then found that no members actually wanted or were able to attend - but at that point, a quick email to the office to say "thanks, but we can't come after all" wouldn't go amiss.

We went (6 of us) on Saturday morning, set up camp in the dry and luckily it stayed that way until a shower about four o'clock.
There was a good amount of people there, I think the show is going a little bit downhill, Bentley weren't there showing off but Nissan had a good display.

It certainly is a bit smaller, and I hope they can do something about that. Bentley were signed up for the first few years and didn't renew for this year, which is a pity but might be down to other issues (such as a big drop is sales to places like China that have their own problems). I'd agree the food selection was probably better this year than last, and that was better than the year before. There's been some criticism of random pricing, with a lot of ticket offer in the last few weeks meaning that early purchasers lost out a bit. I paid £60 to get into the first Carfest, which was much less of a car event than CPoP/CPaS despite the name.
I went on Saturday, 1st time for me, took my 2 boys and they loved it. Think I paid £27 (could have got it cheaper as didn't know about PH discount then), and kids free.
I'd go again, we all enjoyed it. When it rained about 5 o'clock it REALLY rained. Absolutely drenched!!
What grates? £8 for a program? £5 to park when there's no other way to get there? They could have got the £5 from me by charging £2.50 for kids instead, I wouldn't have minded that.
Army guys were great with the kids. People checking tickets on the way in were totally disinterested, my son asked a question on the way in and was answered with "dunno" and he looked away.
Overall I'd go back. But wouldn't pay £40 on the door.

Yes we did car fest the first year at oulton park, camped over again, and yes it was expensive, but well run, but it should of been called 'family fest' with a few car knocking about, when the cars were on track they blasted music over the PA system so you couldn't hear them!
To be fair the chomondeley commentators were very good and knowledgable, would of liked a few more updates on top speed and final times though.

I went 2 years ago and really enjoyed but had to miss last year due to work, so i was looking forward to going back this year but after looking online, seeing what was going to be on and the stupid prices i decided not to go.
For me the event seams to have forgotten what it is and has just turned into a FoS clone. I will look again at it next year but it will only be if there is nothing else on sorry to say.

They do seem to know their stuff, I think at least one of them also commentates at Goodwood and a lot of other events. Top speeds and final times would be an ideal thing for the web site, you'd think, but it lost a lot when it was redesigned 4-5 years ago.geordiecraig101 said:

Interesting points - I thought one of the reasons they'd changed the name was to try to move a bit away from being similar to the FoS - the name "Pageant of Power" was basically Festival of Speed stuck through a thesaurus in any case, to my mind. I hadn't realised the prices had changed that much over the last couple of years. A few years back, there were Goodwood brochures left on all the car club stands, and I never figured out whether that was Goodwood advertising their event to people who obviously like that kind of thing, or whether it was CPoP handing them out to show how much less costly CPoP is. With a bit of luck they'll be reading this kind of feedback as they've obviously got a presence on here to promote the event.
